I've just been going through some DVDs and was watching the first Crossroads guitar festival, which I think was in 2005. One of the songs on it is Time Takes Two by Robert Cray and I realised he must have extemely large hands to be able to cope with the stretches that he is able to do, to give you and idea i tabbed out the main riff;
e|----6-----6-----6-----6-----6-----6-----6-----6-----6-----6-----6-----6----|
B|----6--6--6-----6-----6-----6--6--6-----6-----6-----6-----6-----6-----6----|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|-------------------------------------------------6-----4-----3-----3-------|
E|-6-----------6-----4-----2-----------2-----1-----------------------------1-|

it wouldn't be too bad if he didn't hold down his fingers throughout the riff, but he does lol, and he plays it on a strat. After trying to play this i realised though that my left hand has actually stretched since i've been playing guitar and is now actually quite a bit bigger than my right. But i was wondering how many of you could manage to play this riff? I hope I'm not the only one who would find it difficult. Note I haven't tabbed out the rythm, but it gives you an idea of the stretch involved

I can do it with the thumb fretting the low E. I don't know if RC does it that way or not. I saw him play with Clapton a few months back and his hands did look large, he was covering a lot of fret board that night.

Just a bit short of the F on the first string, feels a bit uncomfortable!

I can do it but I feel like I'm cheating using an Ibanez Wizard neck :P  I couldn't seem to get it with my thumb.  If the high part was up on the 7th fret and the low part still on the first I wouldn't be able to do it comfortably.  My limit for single string stretches is fret 1 to 7 on a 25.5 scale.

I'm pretty certain he does the strecth on the F of the E with his first finger, instead of his thumb. I'm abit like will at the moment, just short with my first finger, to do it smoothly anyway. Here's a link to the song, but not the same performance if anyone was interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gspgpKcu7Bo  :)

Nope, sorry, can't even get close on my Les Paul. I have quite small hands, so anything like this poses problems for me!
