Cold Sweat cover removal ???
« on: March 02, 2008, 12:56:09 AM »
Hi guys,
had my Cold Sweats on my '79 Les Paul Custom for a few years now but I've decided I way prefer the look without the covers better.
I've done a search on the forum but can't find anything related.

Can you give me any tips etc for safe removal of the covers ?

Cheers ...

Ainsley

Yeah

Send it to BK.

I wouldnt advise doing it yourself. I've done it with Epi pickups: the wax is a pain to get off. They now have some minor scratches (minor cos I'm handy with a loose stanley knife balde). In future I'll be using mild heat of some sort and a suitable solvent, but where the condition of a set of loverly BKs is invloved, hand it over to the pros

From the BKP site FAQs:

"Can covers be added or removed from a humbucker?
We remove covers free of charge as part of our commitment to customer service so that your warranty isn't invalidated as long as the pickup is returned to us by registered mail. A cover can be added to any Bare Knuckle humbucker and we only charge the cost of the covers, fitting is free."
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM
