Music advice from my daughter
« on: March 09, 2008, 11:29:20 PM »
I took my daughter (3 and a half years old) to the local shops today in the car. I asked if she wanted to rock out on the way. She replied "We can't rock out Daddy, we might hurt ourselves". Can't figure out if this is good or bad. :?
I think I hate being indecisive.

It could be worse. I told my son once to "rock out" while I had a cd on and he did that literally. He picked up the biggest rock he could find and proceeded to sling it through my car window.
I then had to explain to the 4 year old the difference between "rocking out" and throwing a rock through a window. It was a whole ordeal. Largely my fault I guess.

That's a good start at rocking out. Next it'll be a TV through the balcony window.

That would have been some early Led Zep. She does have very good taste for one so young and often says "I like that song" when someting is playing (pretty much always something by Hendrix, Led Zep, GnR or Metallica when I'm driving).

My son (5, almost 6) anounced the other day that he's going to play guitar in a heavy metal band.

So, thinks I, lets see what he thinks heavy is...

On to the CD player goes Machine Heads The Blackening...

"That's not heavy!" says the firstborn.

OK.  Out comes Machine Head, in goes Special Moves Return of the Three Swords (hardcore metal...).

"No, that's not heavy either.  We're gonna play like this..."

He then lets out the most blood curdling shriek I've ever heard.

My boy!

You ought to be careful- he might end up in a band like 'Prostitute Disfigurement'. (I would provide a link to a website of theirs or something, but they're really not worth the effort!).

Surprisingly they're only on their fourth album.

If I were a 'Horrifying Death Metal' band I'd make an album, put it in an iPod Shuffle. Press Play. Then make my new album in the order which they are played!

Yes. I was insulting.

Hmmm...

Just Googled 'Prostitute Disfigurement'...

Hmmm...

I think that they could be enhanced with a few Richard Thompson licks...
