what's this suppose to be...?

TALD and TABU
what does it mean.... I am practicing one of Guitar Techniques' articles back in 1999 july issue, and I have no idea what they mean.

it goes

    14--TABU--(16)--TALD--14--TABU--(16)--TALD--14

Could be whammy notation, or trills...
In what context are they used?

My best guess would be bend up and let down.  Like this:

14 bend up to 16 let down to 14

Whether that means trem picking, or trem bendings. Thats my guess anyway

I'm going to guess "tremolo arm bend up" and "tremolo arm let down".  

So it's changing the pitch using the bar rather than actually bending the string.

How can it be that relevant as to say that it MUST be done with the arm? It is possible to emulate most shapes of bends with the fingers. Or just how the (lazy :P ) original guitarist did it ?

I wouldn't have thought of it if you hadn't mentioned the tremolo!  :)

As for why do it that way, I suppose with the bar you can do a very fast bend up then back down, which would sound different with a normal string bend.  And you can do that sort of "bouncing" thing where you tap or yank the bar then let it go quickly.

I wonder what the piece of music is?
