No doubt about it: this is the friendliest forum I'e been on.

Its a sort of minimalist goverment self-regulating community

I've seen a couple of people get riled up over something or other, but generally the regular members jump in and politely inform the hothead that we dont do things like that round here, and to be nice. Mods (all three of them!!!) have to step in so much less often than anywhere else, and then its usually just for the honest mistake of posting in the wrong room.

Compare to harmony central, UG or any gaming forum where trolling is a daily occurance, many regulars hate each other and many posts are willfully antagonistic....this is a very peacefull, gentlemanly environment.

Even the discussions I've seen and been in here where people really feel strongly have been civil and reasonable.

Its almost people act here like they would act face to face. For a forum thats a pretty big achievment!

Face to face I'm much less eloquent and swear a lot more, but you have more time to think about how to express yourself when it's in writing.  So there's no need to be rude unless you're deliberately setting out to do it.

  I suppose you could adopt a completely different personality and even invent a glamorous imaginary life for yourself.  Maybe some people do?  Wish I'd thought of it sooner.

Alright, alright!

Of course there are differences.

I mean people here tend to be pretty much as civil, good-humoured and reasonable as in face to face conversation. A rarity for a forum.

I don't know, MrBump. I thought that some of what the guy was saying was a bit over generalised.

For example my brand loyalty to Maverick because of the build quality and the control system could well be seen as fanboyism but I have never rubbished any other manufacturer bar Vintage (specifically the Metal Axxe Razer model as mine was such a poor guitar and wore out very quickly due to cheap materials). I also recommend Orange amps a lot but mainly because they are the only decent amps I've had any real experience with (and that experience is fairly limited) and I like the sound and aesthetics over Marshalls, or MESAs as they kind of fill in the half-way point (Orange distortion having the lower-mid clout of the MESAs but the intuitiveness and articulation of the Marshalls and even the sombre darkness of a Vox AC class in the cleans).

Also, is our loyalty to BKP fanboyism? We rarely, if ever, name other manufacturers as being of equivalent quality (surely there has to be some old bloke in a shed doing stuff which is just as good, if not better...) or even better choices for certain sounds (however, on a manufacturer's forum this is understandable).

Sorry, that was almost philosophy  .

Anyway; it is pretty cosy over here.
I too use chicken as a measurement.

That's a tough one, and I've often wondered if I've become a BKP fanboy. The truth is that if I buy a guitar the chances are that I'm going to put BKP's in it without a second thought.

Now that's because so far I've had several BKP's (well Sue has) and they've all been great, and I have no particular wish to spend a load of cash on another brand as an experiment, I trust BKP now, and feel that while I may choose the wrong one, there are no bad ones.

To anyone that hasn't tried a BKP (and probably some that have) I'd look like a fan boy. I'm not, I'll only stay loyal to BKP while they make excellent pups (sorry Tim), but while they do I'll praise them to anyone who cares.

I don't think that we're ALL fanboys here - a number of posters will mention other PUPs favourably, SD's, DiMarzios etc (although, strangely, not too many positive comments about EMGs...)

But yeah - it's a BKP site, and so is bound to have a bias towards them.  So, like I said in an earlier post, there's no real competition.  But maybe that will all change when Tim finally takes over the world...

Funnily enough, here's some praise for EMGs... from Mr Mills himself! :P :
