I have built two guitars out of purpleheart-
I wouldn't recommend it as body matierial-it's as dense as Rosewood/ebony, spendy, hard on blades, has a high wax content...
-It looks awesome, though-like oxblood Docs, or dried blood...
If you want the look, I recommend a body of maple or mahogany, and a top cap of Purple Heart, or even laminate the whole thing-
I use it mainly as stringers in neck throughs, and as binding...
-Most guitarists whine about the weight of solid PH bodies-
