thinking about new guitar
« on: March 17, 2008, 12:39:37 AM »
Im trying to decide on a guitar to get in the near future for playing different sub genres of metal and maybe a bit of rock/hard rock. Ive got about a 700 U.S dollar budget. Any thoughts? One of the main ones I'm looking at right now is the Ibanez Iceman ICT700

This could go on forever - So I suggest you give us some criteria...

Humbuckers? Single Coils?
Trem? Stop tail? String thru? Floyd Rose?
Singlecut? Double cut?
24 Frets?
6 string? 8 string?
Mahogany? Alder?
24.75 scale? 28 scale?
Thick neck? Wizard neck?
Ebony board? Maple board?
Import? 2nd Hand?

The list goes on...
My last FM.
ESP Horizon NTII.
ESP Viper Camo.
ENGL Screamer.

Basically something with humbuckers, a set neck or thru neck would be nice, I dont want anything with a floyd rose or tremolo. 6 string, 22 or 24 frets, dont want a thick neck. I already have a guitar with a basswood body so maybe Alder? Something along those lines

Jackson SLSMG.

Sorted? (At least for most of them, but seeing as you write 'Alder?' I suppose you could go for Mahogany)
