There's plenty of differences. Airbourne's tone is more distorted and compressed, tempo and rhythm are different and the chords used are different from AC/DC as well.

Edit: And if you don't like it, shut the hell up and go listen to your Nickelback.

Hahahahaaaa $%&#in' Nickleback hahahahahaaa   :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

You're very wrong Mr Ed.  You're just taking a casual listen to both bands and making a very sweeping statement.

In my opinion, AC/DC are very skilled musicians with a subtle "cleverness" to their music.  The riffs are simple yet powerful, guitar parts are very complementary to each other, rhythms and timing are more complicated than you think etc.  Musically, AC/DC are very underrated.  Anyone can bash out a 'DC riff but the tunes are like an iceberg - there's much more going on under the surface.  Their earlier stuff in particular is incredibly well written.

Airbourne are straight ahead, bash 'em out type guys.  Much more punk than blues rock.  They're nowhere near as sophisticated as 'DC, so how are they ripping them off?  Because they're from Oz and play rock and roll with Marshalls?

No, I'm not wrong - it's called an opinion, everyone has one.

But as usual it's worthless  :P

Forvgive me for butting in, but I fail to see where they are "ripping off" AC/DC. I mean, unless they are releasing albums with AC/DC songs on them.
The influence is obvious, but who isn't influenced a great deal by what you listen to? I mean, I'd be hard pressed to write a song right now that didn't reflect some of my own personal influences. If you don't like them because they sound too much like AC/DC, than that's one thing. But to say they are "ripping them off" is quite ridiculous.
Regardless, bring it on. If they are "ripping off" AC/DC, than it might actually be worth listening to for once!

AC/DC are the ultimate example of 'less is more'. Tight and accurate just don't seem big enough words to describe them. I've seen them live a few times and was amazed by their talent and energy.

Throating like a blue whale lots of big made up words which loosely translate to my mummy and daddy don't understand me and a load of fascinating skin diseases at 666bpm is a load of bollocks and there are more copy cat bands doing it than any other genre I can think of. There are a few who can do this sort of thing well and a 1000 who can't. They never get any birds at their gigs either. I wonder why?

So am I just a bad rhythm player or does anyone else find it really hard to make ACDC riffs sound spot on?  :?

You get mingers there, I'm surprised even those would be interested.

I went to see Motley Crue in 1989 at Wembley Arena. There were more women there than men and all of them were stunning uber sluts. I thought this would be the case and it exceeded my expectations
The band were pretty good too.

No it's not just you Tommo, it's the subtlety in their chord voicings and a lot of other things. We get a lot of talk of tone is in the fingers in here and here is a good example.

First it* slags off Led Zepplin... ..perhaps it would be happy elsewhere

Johnny, with your usage if the term "it" can I assume that you are auditioning as Bullalo Bill are you going to offer him some moisturiser next ? (assuming he is already down the pit)

For those who don't know DC apparently where heavily influenced by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band (SAHB) and you can hear the influence in the earlier tracks. Infact DCs 1st UK appearence was on the Marc Bolan show when SAHB where unable to appear.

Although I don't like them much Status Quo are also written of as 3 chord wonders, but if you actually listen to the track theres more going on than you realise (especially ther pre 1980s material)

I love playing AC/DC riffs. I play along to AC/DC to keep my riffing tight.

Here's some tricks:

Use very little overdrive, plenty of mids and volume.

Be ON the beat. Not after, not infront but ON the beat. Play tight but relaxed.

Use plenty of open chords when you want it to sound big. Only use barre chords when it needs to sound more compressed. Malcolm mixes open and barre chords up a lot. It's one part of the many subtleties.

Control your guitar's volume with your picking, not with your volume knobs, those need to be wide open.

The rest is practice and listen to all those subtleties.
