Annoying Collar Bone
« on: March 25, 2008, 06:21:24 PM »
I woke up today, as usual. Did the usual, play some guitar, ate breakfast, whatever. When I went out to have lunch I was struck with this teeth clenching, bitterly sharp pain in my collar bone, on the left side just before it dips down in the center of your chest.

Not asking for doctor's advice or anything, but does anyone know the probable cause for this?

You could've broken it - had an awkward fall recently? (especially one where you landed hard on your elbow)

The first time I broke mine, I carried on skiing for 4 days before the pain got so bad that I could barely move...

I doubt I broke it, it only comes and goes when I reach for things.

It's easy to break something and not realise though, a few of my friends have broken limbs and not realised for weeks sometimes, and I'm pretty certain I've broken my knuckles a couple of times, but it never got painful enough to get it seen.

It's probably cracked, or broken.
Last time i broke mine i had the same thing, i could do almost anything, but if i reached for something or lifted my arm too fast it felt as if someone was trying go through it wit a blunt hacksaw.

My chest plate clicks sometimes and I quite often get a pain a little to the left of it.  My bro rekons it's probably a problem with the intercostal muscles, a pull or strain.

He essentially told me that even if I went to the doctors, they would say "Oh dear, looks painful, still there's nothing we could do" and pack me off with some pain killers.

If you're worried though, go to the docs.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

I think I broke my pinky toe, but apparently everyone breaks that bone at some point.

Think that pain is bad? I had an operation on my happy sack yesterday, the act of walking is the most painful experience I've felt.
