Thinline Tele - 'Bucker choice

Hey,

After a bit of help a'la choosing a set of humbuckers for a Warmoth Tele Thinline. It's going to be the double tone chambered one (not the '72) with an Alder body, Maple top, Maple neck and Ebony fretboard. The Bridge p'up will be in a Tele type bridge.

At the moment I have a 'normal' Tele with Country Boy's in it which I love and basically I'm looking for a similar sort of tone but with the added fatness, warmth and drive of a set of humbuckers. I play mostly clean or with a light-med OD (from a Barber Ltd) but sometimes a bit of distortion as well. Its mostly rhythm stuff I play, so note clarity is a BIG must!

I've used the Seymour Duncan (is that like swearing here?!?) Tone selector thing and it bought up their PAF type p'ups as good for an Alder body. So at the moment I'm thinking a set of Mules would be pretty good, but as you all know a lot more than me I am open to suggestions!

Cheers in advance!

Yeah, I had a look at the VHII's as well. Not sure if they would be too hot or not though. I definitely stick more to the low end of the gain scale (although as mentioned I do use higher gain as well, but not as much), so would the VHII's do a good clean/low OD?

Probably should have mentioned this earlier, I'm using an AC15, set to that great Vox just-about-to-breakup-clean, at the moment but at some point will also get a Fender toned amp for nice cleany cleans!

hunter just posted some rather nice VH2 clips in the players forum, featuring great clean tone.

but equally, mules sound good when driven hard too.

Wow, that is a great clip! Have to say, for the parts in the clip where he is playing clean or with a light drive, they sound pretty much exactly how I would want whatever I choose to sound! So looks like VHII's would be a good call! Had a look around the forum after your suggestion as well and the main comments seem to be focusing around their clarity which is really the main thing I'm looking for so yeah, looks good to me!

Cheers for the help! If anyone has any other suggestions please fire away, or indeed any comments on the VHII's!
