Rebel Yell slow downtuned riffage
« on: March 26, 2008, 09:52:07 PM »
Tuned down my Pearl to C just for fun, good for slow doom metal type stuff I guess. Anyway heres a quick clip I did, not sure if I like the tone loads but it works for that style of music I suppose. Used a Keeley Rat into the GH which had the preamp gain on about 5 and the gain boost off.

The sound quality, even on the "hi-fi" version was so bad i couldn't bare listening to it for more than 3 seconds.
Don't know it it would sound better if i downloaded the song, i can't be arsed to sign up on soundclick.
Maybe you could upload the file to the forum instead ??

hmm weird. The quality is allright for me. Unless you're on about the quality of the tone in which case I kind of agree  Still stays quite tight on the bottom tho which is good considering I was using 10s on an LP in C :P

Anyway I've uploaded it here:

Well tonally, even in drop tuning, it seems to be more of the old skool flavor - even if you totally disregard the leanings of the riffs  :)

Sounds awesome! I think.

Ahh, sounds much better now.
The tone's ok, and it would work well for some older metal...
(but it wouldn't hurt to add more low end... a LOT more  :D )

Sounds good but could do with some bottom end as there is nothing filling out down there. Did you back off the bass on the amp?

Fffing good riff and playing Tom!!  8)
