Hey I was looking for a lefty trem equipped guitar myself and really my two choices for a nice playing guitar (I don't trust purchasing a random stocked guitar from an e-tailer too many awful stories I've read) was to buy a RG1570L from Rich Harris @ Ibanez Rules...

http://www.ibanezrules.com/new/rg1570l.htm

..or go custom.
I went for a Legra JEM Lefty with mirror top which was about £1500 incl. case+del. mainly because of the BKP option which I could not get from Rich among others

Cheers & Good luck.

i would just like to say thanks alot for the speedy replies guys! And woogie i know you off MSN :P hey there. And to that feline i would like it but in this new guitar i am really seeking to have a trem. So i will have to turn you down im afraid. And just to put this in perspective guys this customs legra im talking about is really pushing the boundaries. Mean i would be in part time work for over a year. And even with the RG to get it equiped with BKs i would be working although summer holidays, plus more. So this is a lot of money for me. And the only reason i would see the need to go custom was if the RG would be significantly worse.

Now i know that the epi and ibanez necks are miles apart. But i actually find it easier to bend on my old squires 25.5 scale length than my epis 24.75. Thats why i though the ibanez would be good. Also i am hearing lots of good things about the wizard necks and why is it all the shredders use em? So i assume they must be quick.

Also just a further question... With a floyd rose style tremelo (in this case an edge pro, feedback on this please) Can you have the action redicously low and still be able to pull it up? Or do the strings just catch? Because my mate who is a bit of a ponce has his gibbo les paul action redicously low! Like less than 1mm at 12 fret. And on my epi i can get it pretty low but i am finding there are a few dud frets. Only 1 or 2, but this stops me putting the action any lower. So with the ibanez are all the frets really even?

Anyway guys thanks again keep the posts coming

Also ill have to mention im pretty established in what music i like, Ive been playing 4 years. And what would you say on the front of the BKPs? I sent an email to tim so i guess i will wait for his response

I will have come mid-June!  8)
Actually Bob promised me some pics soon so I might make a thread and post them up.
Nailbomb - IT - NB + Push button kill switch also.

Varkunus I'd just like to say I considered Rich as I have no pro near me to do a guitar setup etc.
Where you would be able to turn a decent RG into a great player if you're nearby Legra, Feline, Wez etc.

nothing is better than JJ Guitars, they sound much better than any PRS, as the body is almost 2x thicker, they look a bit ugly but the sound is the best I have ever heard!

oh yeah and fit it with BKP's of coarse! esp mules + BKP90s. I know it's off the subject but a real Fender Jaguar is only £600 and a Mustang is only £400! they look pretty decent too, I saw it today in Dawsons, yet another option to consider for you, and not too expensive.

tim said painkillers in neck and irish tour middle and cold sweat neck. Im pretty sure of them all just the bridge. I basically want a really big almost mesa type sound. Like big and drivey like black sabbath, but also needs to be able to do anything up megadeth and anything down to t-rex

Crazy, how are ya fitting two neck pickups in at once :P
Anyway, sounds like it would be a good combo

sorry typo lol. Anyway I am still having problems with the bridge i want a really drivey tone but still bit good clairty and decent amount of bass.  Im considering painkiller on tims recommendation, the holy grail. the war pig, the miricle man etc. Could you guys steer in the right directions and tell me how these vary in sound. BTW i have checked the sound samples

also guys on my epi which has 24 frets. Sometimes the frets seem a little small, not by much but sometimes enough. But i assume on the ibanez with longer scale length and jumbo frets this problem will be easily solved.

And also im thinking of trying to save up for a single recto. Anyone got feedback on that? Or maybe a VHT. I have major gas but think a new guitar will go down better with parents + its cheaper. And im really seeking a trem

There is almost certainly no way that you should get a custom guitar yet. You'll know when the time is right to get one. For now, get a decent "branded" guitar. Other users here have mentioned the Ibanez vs ESP vs... points about neck styles. The only thing I would add to that is that you should get down to a guitar shop and try out as many different types of guitar as possible (in a wide range!). Make a point of saying to the staff in the shop that you're in the market for a new guitar, but that the purpose of your visit that day is to see what styles suit you and what styles don't.
I did this very recently, making the point that the purpose of this particular visit to the shop was to try out guitars to find out what I wanted (the inference very strongly was that I wasn't going to buy that day, though I didn't actually say that!).
Most shops are okay with this - if they treat you well, hopefully you'll buy from them when you're ready to get it!

The up-shot: don't drop loads of money on a guitar now! You will still be able to get a custom/expensive guitar later, and you'll appreciate it more!

its just im finding my squire affinity strat easier to bend on than my epi. And even though the action is higher its easier to press down on the frets. I think its scale length. Also I am lefty so which models are similar. And i live on the Isle of Wight, and theres only two shops here, none stock ibanez. So ill have to go to the mainland, but each time i do that the ferry is over £40 sometimes £80

just one piece of advice - make sure you get an Original Floyd Rose rather than a cheap licensed one, or it will be a throughly depressing experience.

trems are fun, it can be nice to have one in your selection.

Would you say Gotoh is a bad licensed FR?  That's what i have on mine, and i am thinking of swapping it out.  What do you think?

(sorry to hijack the topic)

The floyd on my Maverick is a custom run Gotoh. I barely have to tune. Ever.

I'd say that bodes well for their quality.

Are you sure it's set up correctly?
I too use chicken as a measurement.
