wouldn't describe the gotoh one as 'cheap'...

I would deffinatly say dont go custom. Ibanez seem to make really great guitars around that price and you can always mod it if there something you dont like and still be saving money over a custom.

i thought i wanted to go custom but i got a peavey v-type. Its far from a great guitar but a few mods and it plays nice, sounds sweet(miracle men set) and i am always pleased to go home and play it everyday.

I have a miracle man and those bands you said seem to match up pretty well to there sound, they have alot of punch and attack and tons of clarity, and they have really good bass that is really responsive to your playing.

I think the low pro is probably really good, my peaveys "liscensed floyd rose" was IMO quite bad, but after a while i learnt to set it up low action good intonation and the tuning doesnt go out.

It takes perseverance but i dont think floyds are that bad even the cheap shoddy ones.

I speak for myself, but I'm also fairly sure that others will agree with this:

If that's what Tim says, then that's almost certainly the very best setup for you, based on what you told him! I for one could not add anything to his advice: he knows this stuff better than pretty much anyone else ;)

well for bridge he did email me back saying painkiller at first but then changed his mind to warpigs. This is why i was unsure, im set on the middle and neck. Its just the bridge. Basically i want a big sound which can go from t-rex levels of distorion, to sabbath, to zepplin, and right the way through to a big sounding megadeth type sound. But also the cleans/light overdrive needs to be decent.

lol, @ "right the way through to a big sounding megadeth type sound" - man you crack me up with that!

All of the BKPs are very well-made. You'll be able to get very good cleans from all of them, although in some cases you might have to roll back a touch on the volume. That said, I use a miracle man (pretty high output), and it's got a cracking clean sound when I want it to sound like that. If you were to get an AlNiCo V warpig, the cleans will be 'better' than, say, a ceramic pig (and possibly better than my [ceramic] miracle man, but I can't confirm that without first-hand experience).

Basically: Stop worrying about the BKPs. Just go for whatever Tim suggests once you've settled on the guitar you want, and if you're not happy (heh, extremely unlikely), you've got a cool-off period anyway, and you'll be able to swap them for something else.

ahh so tim lets you return the pups if you dont like, well thats a relief not so much sweat now :P!!! And i havent asked tim yet on this, but i will. Basically i dont know if this is possible, but i really love the sound of fendery neck pickups, although i still need a humbucker in neck for leads in metal and stuff. But is it possible to get a single coily (david gilmour) neck style sound but in the middle position? And if so what pickups would you recommend

They're on the other side of the bridge - The tail of a stoptail doesn't get in the way on a les paul - Likewise in this situation.
