Hey guys! I am a big fan of BKPs'. I have a set of unpotted Mules in my Gibson Les Paul Standard. Which is great. But my main axes are two ESP Eclipse II VTBs. Both have Dual EMG85s.

I am just wondering what would mimic the EMG 85 in a passive BKP pickup. I am getting REALLY tired of batteries.

SO do you guys have any suggestions?

in terms of output that would be the ceramic pig
eq'wise the neck versions of warpig and miracle man used in the bridge have some similarities with the 85
maybe a custom miracle man with alnico 8 would sound good

i was looking for the same thing as you, then i ordered a holy diver and it's favorite pickup ever
boosted and downtuned, my guitar sounded as massive as when it had a 85 in the bridge, but with much more tone and depth
i'm back to the miracle man temporarily, but it's voiced like the 81 (focused and tight), not the 85

Stock warpig (A5) is closest to the 85 sonically.

Well I really want the bridge to CRUSH. I am usually riding in the C-Standard and D-Standard areas in terms of downtuning.

BUT. I want the neck to provide warm clean tones (think In Flames clean passages), but also provide a very FLUID (NOT muddy) lead from the neck (Think Michael Amott Arch Enemy neck leads).

So biting snarling midrange from the bridge, but not ice picky.

Warm Fluid Cleans and Fluid Lead capability from the neck pup.

Also want them to balance really well.

Maybe I am being to picky. But BKPs seem HIGHLY capable of providing me the tone I desire (and lose sleep over).

if you want super cleans nothing like a nailbomb the best clean pickup bk does am sure if you speak with tim he would customize it so your specs

Yea I think I am gonna go with a set of calibrated Nailbombs. Seems to be what I am after.

The Neck Cold Sweat is uber fluid.

I agree with noodle: Neck CS will make you happy.

See my thing is I dont want EXTREME saturation to the point of NO articulation what so ever. I want punch and bite. Well I need the articulation factor for some of the mathematical low string runs I use.

All BKP's I have used are clear and articulate despite loads of gain.

I can even do heavy rhythm on my neck warpig under high gain these things are so clear.

I am going to email Tim and see what THE Master suggest.

I am already running a 5150 w/ a Maxon OD-808 and BOSS NS-2 Noise Gate. I would just feel like DOUBLE War Pigs would be a little much.

I also wonder if Tim can make the covers satin black with no pole pieces and maybe a small BKP symbol in the corner...
