Gibson VOS finish

Does anybody own one of these? i have a question regarding the VOS finish on these things and how best to treat it.

Basically the VOS finish scractches very easily, i want to try and polish off these scratches but im aware that will eliminate some of the VOS look and give it more shine, so how would i go about treating the scratches without losing the VOS look?

With that in mind how would i go about general cleaning of the guitar after playing it? do i have to choose whether to keep the VOS look and not clean it or clean it and lose the VOS look?

cheers

I think you've answered your own question.  As I understand it, the VOS finish does not have a final buffing stage, so it's matt/non-gloss and has 'character'.  Any polishing or buffing you do will of course gloss up the polished area.

The whole point of the VOS finish is that it doesn't look new, but like an aged instrument.  If you want the new look then you'll need to polish up the guitar you have all over.

I'd leave it as it is, play it, and never polish it.  Let it gain some mojo!
