Just had a blazing argument with my electric thieving Croatian lesbian neighbours as no service provider, police or building management would do a thing to help. 30 minutes of shouting, the police were called and we came out on top. Sorted. I've been trying for 5 weeks to get somewhere over the phone but no one wants to know so it ends up in a huge row when you have to take things in to your own hands. Well at least I've got it off my chest.

One pretty, one ugly!

The whole situation is pants as no one can do anything' 'cos of these human rights laws. Even the management company who happily fleece me for 140 a month won't get involved. All they do is cut the grass and hoover the stairs!

The whole time they were trying to pitch in with a sexual orientation angle to take the flak away from them and spin it and make me out to be some kind of thuggish bigot. I of course knew they would do this and whenever they did, I just said what are you trying to pluck out of mid air now. The neighbours in the whole building were all out and for a while it was girls v boys until i kept pressing the safety issue, then they started to listen and I got a few allies from the others who live here. Their all women. Most would think it great but it's not to be honest as they just gang up on you. But i enjoyed meself!!

Stealing electricity as I remember it .

They had attached a feed from a lighting spur (dont know if that means that they went through the ceiling or floorboards to do it??)

At best they were using electricity and Johnny was having to pay for it . At worst it represents an overload hazard which could have serious repercussions such as fire etc.

Think I have gotten that right.....

Quite probably, Jonny, and long may they continue to roam free.

But I was thinking more of the small army of Central Europeans who recently moved in upstairs.

Here's a copy and paste of an email to a mate of mine about 3 weeks back

The neighbours, yes it's a complicated one! My electric was being tapped into by my neighbours upstairs. They're two girls from Croatia and have always found them to be friendly and got on with them ok. We (I share a flat with my brother) did have to ask them to keep their noise down as they would be thumping drunk a lot until 3am sometimes but apart from that they seemed ok. Then they said they were moving out on a Monday a few weeks ago but it fell through. On the Wednesday a bulb in my bedroom blew and tripped the circuit breaker, which shouldn't have happened and has happened before. I changed the bulb ( I was going to put a light bulb joke in here but decided against it!) and re-set the circuit breaker and only had lights in the other bedroom and bathroom. Anyway I got a mate to have a look as he is a sparks and he sussed it out straight away.
So I asked them if they had taken down any electrical fittings for their move and they said that they hadn't. I told them about my lights ect. Then I said that I may have to look under their floor boards or if that wasn't possible remove my ceiling as there is a fault in my wiring. Then, just as I said that, a friend of theirs appeared from the lounge and asked me to keep my voice down as she had a baby asleep in the bedroom. I said ok I'll talk to you another time. An hour later the lights went back on in my flat after being off for 3 days. I still haven't heard a baby crying. The next day they were very odd with me as I spoke about it to another neighbour, who understandably was concerned about the safety as a block at the end of my road caught fire last year due to an electrical fault. They were showing classic signs of 'guilt written all over your face'. Anyway it's all being looked into by the building management company who have their surveyor on to it. It's taken about 3 weeks to get this far as no one wants to know.
I've been here two years in May and they were here before me so when I get my next electrical bill I should see a difference. We isolate the lights each time we leave the flat now. Plus last Saturday I could hear them screwing down floor boards, probably in preparation for the surveyors visit that was scheduled for Monday, but he never showed up. It's all circumstantial so far but if they can get under the floor then an Electrician will spot if there has been any skulduggery going on. I'm not really worried about any personal expense I've lost I just want to know it's safe. Shame on them eh! Everywhere I've lived I've had problems with neighbours, I thought this time it would be different as this place was expensive and in a nice area

They went under their floorboards as our lighting wiring is under there, on top of our ceilings.

This sort of thing is happening all the time now according to the people we have spoken to on the phone but as the law stands their pretty much powerless to do anything about it. All these new laws just create a situation where people can do what they bloody well like and if you don't like it then tough! It's a load of bollocks to my way of thinking.

Sorry to hear about the big argument but at least it appears to have cleared things up somewhat in what has been a complicated situation.

There really is some strange cosmic synergy in our lives Johnny my dear friend, as I'm drinking a large whisky at 7am in the morning as I've been too angry to sleep after experiencing the beginnings of a long overdue argument.

I won't go into details as the issue is raw but it's a case of "no more Mr nice Afghan"... A few years ago after much anger-management therapy I turned into a nice and considerate Buddhist.. well f**k that for the moment.

I'm having some time off positive karma and delivering some factory farmed chickens to certain peoples homes for them to roost...

(please excuse the vitriol but it's good for me to have a virtual rant from time to time)

I'll calm down soon, have a cup of tea and wait for this all to blow over but I'm NOT a chilled out Mo'fo right now..

Thanks for the info, Johnny  :) .  I was semi-joking in my last post, but I did just get a big electricity bill, and I do have new neighbours - who made an awful lot of racket banging and hammering on the floorboards when they moved in, even though they're only renting the place and the flooring's quite new.

It's not something I ever would have imagined anyone doing if I hadn't read your story, but it just made me wonder.  I haven't had any lights blowing or anything like that though.
