I wanna change the pickups in this guitar because the ones in it are horrid woolly sounding things. Its a great guitar for the price i paid an i thought it worthy of an upgrade.

Is there a pickup which would work lovely with getting loads of pinch harmonics easily (for a novice)? Nice and crunchy too with a good bottom end on a bridge pup.

The MM1 is an excellent guitar value, its features include: a solid Basswood body, a 22 fret American Maple Neck with black dot inlays, two powerful direct-mounted humbucker pickups, and chrome die cast tuners and non-locking tremolo bridge. The transparent finishes even have a very attractive crème colored binding! You get the highest quality construction, tone, and appearance - all at a very affordable price.

Hardware: Chrome
Pickups: 2 Direct Mounted OLP Humbuckers

Well, it depends as much as anything on what style of music you're playing...

I have a music man axis and have had the following in it:

dimarzio (probably PAF Pros) - sterile bridge / wooly neck
SD JB/Jazz - JB was too spikey whilst the neck was a little dark
BKP Warpig (alnico) - huge bass response, warm, tight.

Just put in a set of Mules and these are my favourite of the bunch. They're very open and warm, though they aren't muddy at all. The frequency range is totally balanced and the bridge and neck share a similar character instead of tight/trebley or wooly/warm. Great pickups!

I wouldn't take my word for it as the OLP is a different guitar but the Mules were recommended to me by Tim as good all-round pickups. Would be worth getting in touch with him though  :)

The word is that Nailbombs excell in basswood, and they are great all-rounders aswell. My girlfriend's guitar has similar specs to yours (basswood, maple, rosewood) and I'm struggling not to force her to put Nailbombs in it.

where did nailbomb get the inspiration for its name? its one of the only pup names i dont make an artist/album connection with. Nine Inch Nails maybe.. :s

What are the characteristics of the nailbomb? sounds heavy as hell. hehe.

I believe it is from Max Cavalera's sideproject band named "Nailbomb". It is definitely not just a metal pickup. Go to the player's section and you'll find many clips of particularly the bridge model.
