Without further info its kinda hard, a Microcube is a really good little amp for about £80 (£40-50 used). It's small and sounds amazing for it's size and price.

I own a Tiny Terror and a 1x12 that I consider to be fairly portable in terms of getting from a room to a car, but I wouldn't want to carry it across town!

yeah i'd say if you want really portable get a Microcube! they run on batteries if you want and for the size and price they sound bloody great!

I'm currently awaiting a Fender  'G-dec junior'.  I do not doubt that the micro cube ( which I also looked at ) is great  - but the G-dec junior has the additional benefit of bass &  drum or drum only jamming loops / backing tracks in a variety of  styles. You can select the style, key and tempo for any jamming track. There is also a seperate volume for the jamming loops and all control parameters are done by knobs  not menus.

The only downside I can see . is that unlike the Micro-Cube or Vox DA-5  it is mains operation only - but as I have not gigged for years, the idea of a simple yet comprehensive practice tool and amp / effects modeller - seemed like a good idea.

It is also a 15 watt amp, and weighs about 7kg. At first glance it looks like a Fender Blues Junior - so it's not as portable and cute as the Micro Cube.

Like I said though, for armchair improvising / skills training - I prefered the idea of all I should need being In one box.

woah people! don't freak out, I wanted ideas to look up. This was suppose to be vague. Just cool it fistham, right now I only have my soldano and that can be a beast to lug. So I have never really looked into solid state amps. But the headache of carrying all the gear is really starting to get to me. Im about to move into a much larger city and just want something easy to carry. Any ideas would help. thanks

OH, one thing is for sure. I would like it to have distortion. I enjoyed the blues junior but, in the end, wasn't entirely interested.
