Well i finally got around to getting off my arse today and fitting getting rid of the single coils and doing what i had intended all along for this strat.

I'm so, so happy that i did! i don't know if its my ears playing tricks on me, but i can get better harmonics out of this thing, sustain is improved somewhat, tone in general is clearer... feels more immediate and responsive... seems louder and clearer acoustically too. theres more going on than i expected.

I never like using the neck pickup so, i'm glad it's gone!

The only bad thing is that this is a cheap and nasty pick-up, sounds okay clean but... yeah, no where near BKP! so now starts the long long process of making the choice of which BKP to put in there... i was thinking VH2 but maybe that'd be a bit bright... Holy Diver maybe? oh dear...

Anyway, cr@ppy pic time! :D

Depends what gear you use and what you like :].

Why not have something different? I never thought I'd be getting Holy Diver's for my PGM

Some guy showed here a sample of him playing with a strat w/ VHII!
Sounded massive, but he told he uses .012 string gauge and Drop D tunning!

That's a stunner Adam! I guess you won't be selling it now then? I think you made the right choice and definitely worth the effort as that is a beauty :D Love the maple neck and black pickguard.

Yeah she's a keeper now for sure! i love the simplicity, when i have options im constantly trying them out and trying to use all the options possible... now all i have is volume, no more messing around with a neck pickup ;)

Gotta love black and maple... it just works. a bit 80's maybe, but i don't care!

That's certainly not Drop D. I doubt he uses .012 gauge strings.

.012 gauge strings would give a thicker tone ala SRV

TO uses DR Pure Blues 10-46 and doesn't use drop D tuning.  I can safely say this as I have set up all his guitars and will be putting his new one together shortly.

Holydiiiiivah! Perfect in strats, thick and juicy. You wont miss the neck pickup if you have a thick enough bridge, so HD all the way.
