Amp kits
« on: April 07, 2008, 04:14:44 PM »
I am thinking about building an amp and found this company on the internet. Has anyone tried out one of their kits? They seem very reasonably priced and I wouldn't have to pay outrageous shipping since they are located in Germany and so am I.
They are called Madamp and I have read some positive reviews but would like to hear it first hand from one of you guys.

I would prefer a clean and drive channel with a standby switch as well, but I am flexible.

To add on to the above, this would be my first amp build. I am basically looking for something from 5 -15 watts for home use. 2 channels would be nice but it is not essential. As a matter of fact, as long as I can get an excellent clean channel out of it (cleans are very dear to me) then I will just use my SD-1 to drive it.
It should be mentioned that I won't just be doing this to learn how to build amps. I want to use this amp as my practice amp and I am hoping to get something excellent out of it.

Built a 6v6 version of the vk5 mv(already had a TT with el84), cleans are amazing...one of the best amps I've owned, for dirt built the BYOC mighty mouse(takes to pedals real well)

The amp was a great first build......pedal not as easy..and back up advice from owner was great as well (needed a few pointers)

Out of curiosity how is the BYOC mouse? I'm tempted by one but can't find many clips out there of it.

to be honest not yet been too busy just playing...will have to do some soon....but won't be able to post here guitar am using at mo hasn't got BKP's...but sound wise is kinda cross between a valve champ and a bassman..very responsive tone control and amp digs in well..hit strings soft for subtle bash for really loud.....good pickups help obviously
