I wouldn't take too much notice of what is says on the website. The odds of that list being updated are low, and being correct are lower :)

I think that a lot of smaller companies and makers are thinking twice about it because of the changes that were made to the show this year:

1) Cost of show stands was increased by nearly 25%
2) You aren't allowed to sell from your stand - so no chance of recouping the huge expense of exhibiting.
3) Show is 4 times larger so many customers wont have time to look at your stuff in any depth as they are intent on looking round everything- so less chance to cultivate sales
4)Extending the show by an extra day means more time away from your business as well as extra costs of paying staff and putting people up in hotels
5) EDIT :The date of the show also clashes with The Download Festival and many of  the prospective customers will be wanting to go to that

^ Plus the show is during Peak Season this year, which is going to make it cost prohibitive for anyone outside of England to fly in.

importantly: do any of these factors affect a possible BKP drink-up at the time of the show?

thats actually not a bad idea... if tim brings some pickups, i'm sure he'd sell a few based on the fun we'd be having with each others guitars.

At this stage I'd rather do a one day roadshow with BKP and maybe a couple of other makers like BlackMachine, Legra etc etc.
Cost a fraction of the cost as well
The high cost does seem to keep away the smaller businesses whilst the big companies can afford to throw money at the show.
Sad thing is as a result you will get to see a lot of Chinese made product at the show but not much British made stuff

The changes have been made since the organisers teamed up with the MIA (Music Industries Association) who are like a self appointed trade body for the Musical Instrument Retail business. I'm not so sure that they do much to encourage smaller businesses but do seem quite involved with the big players in the industry.

As for the show _ I will be there as an attendee - I want to check out the changes, as well as say Hi to any of you guys that come along.

Be careful - if this falls through - Ben (Twilight) will be there to tell us that Brits couldnt organise a p**s up in a brewery whilst the NYC brigade would just sort it out.
