Dakine, I still love how that PRS looks (not the red one, the other) :) I've recently been having GAS for a PRS, I think even their SE series are great guitars. Depends how grey/washed out it looks in person. I'm kinda considering selling my Pearl and saving up for a Mira at the minute though :o

The grey-black singlecut SE is more black than gray, and looks lovely.

I'm actually very tempted to save up for a singlecut PRS SE, anyone know the main differences between the Tremonti and the SE, all I can see is the position of the controls. Any other differences?

It has the same effect on me - it's like a form of torture. But at the same time, quite pleasant...

Main differences between the Tremonti SE and the Singlecut SE is the wood - Tremonti is an all-mahogany body, Singlecut has a maple top and a flame veneer. Pickups are different, and the Singlecut doesn't have binding on the neck, whereas the Tremonti does (could be a dealbreaker if you're used to unbound necks).

I played a Tremonti a while back (2 years) and wasn't too impressed. It sounded quite muddy and undefined. However, I played a Singlecut and was impressed enough to buy one. It now houses my Holy Diver set. My only criticisms are that the tuners suck, and the fretwire is quite soft. Other than that, they are excellent, and given how cheap they are cropping up now (£330ish), a fantastic buy.

Thanks for that, i saw the veneer thing, but not sure what a veneer was... I'm used to slightly wonky tuners (mexican fenders are a favourite of mine...), so no worries there!

Sod the pickups, this will house a MQ set (returning my tele to a esquire). I'll try them out and see what feels better. Damn that big Tremonti on the headstock though...

No worries, you're welcome. The BIG Tremonti logo was offputting to me too, and I like the guy's playing! It's no coincedence that his name is now on the (removable) trussrod cover of his US Sig model, rather than on the fretboard.

I read that, apparently, getting rid of the prominent logo was his own idea. A nice touch of modesty.

Yeah, I thought so too. They even supply a blank trussrod cover when you buy one, so you can take his name off completely.

I'm pretty sure that one of the Max Cavalera signature guitars comes with only 4 strings - did I dream this or is it true?

I think Max himself only uses four strings, but I'd surprised if they sell the guitars without the extra two!

I suppose if it was a super-accurate copy like the Fender "Tribute" Lenny/Blackie/Rory Gallagher Strats they might go for 4-string authenticity. :lol:

Well I think there might not be many guitarists out there who have NOT yet GASed for a PRS.

Guess that must be like with some gorgeous celebrities, some shapes and proportions just appeal to everyone, and if that doesn't work, guitar makers can still invest in marketing & advertising to make it happen.

I don't want to interupt this PRS party, but I've owned a couple of PRS SE's, and I could never get the intonation spot on with their hardtails. Anyone else have this issue, or is it just me ?
