If Bono reduced his own income to minimum wage and gave the rest to Africa, all problems could be over. Unless they buy weapons for it, or those dictators keep it for themselves.

Africa's problems aren't as simple as Bono and co make us believe. The problem isn't poverty and/or food shortage. Those are just symptoms.

The problem is greedy, power hungry people.

Well, sadly, the story isn't true. Neither's the Mariah Carey flies/death/love to be that skinny one, which makes me weep a little.

Bono's an awful hypocrite to tell governments to donate taxpayer's money to such causes, when he moved his business from Ireland to the Netherlands to avoid paying any tax himself. Please note: I am not opposed to taxpayers money being used thus. I'm wholly in favour. I'm opposed to Bono being a jumped up, sunglasses indoors, five foot, sounbite mongering shiteehawk.

And here is Bono's recollection of this event at a concert 6 years after it happened.

"I said 'Holy father, do you want a pair of fly shades?' and he said 'yes' and he put them on and he made a face kind of like this."

After scrunching his face to resemble Pope John Paul II, Bono showed the crowd he still carries with him a token of their meeting.

"He reached out and gave me this sort of crooked cross. It was designed by Michelangelo. They're my rosaries and I wear them around my neck, and I take them off and put them in my pocket during a rock show, you understand [why]."

The band then launched into the full version of 'Miracle Drug' which Bono dedicated to "anyone who is sick." Before the U2's next song, recent single 'Sometimes You Can't Make it On Your Own', Bono called out the name of the Pope - "John Paul" to the crowd and described him as "an Italian who knew the right person to get into heaven."


I have seen U2 a few times and think they would be soooo much better live if Bono just dropped the cheese and concentrated on singing.

Pope John Paul aka Karol wasn't Italian, he was Polish.

Whoever gets into heaven isn't up to the pope or anyone he knows either.

Bono should stop feeding people this cr@p.

Bono kissing the pope's ass is as hypocrtical as it gets. Bono battling aids in Africa while the pope tells Africa NOT to use condoms.

He was also a goalkeeper. As were Luciano Pavarotti, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and David Icke.

I totally agree, except for one thing - please don't be opposed to him being short, it's not his fault.  There are OK short people in the world, like Angus Young, Christina Ricci and Ronnie Corbett.  Me even.  :wink:

I was just saying that despite Bono's many (indeed, almost limitless) faults, being short isn't one of them.  

And I wouldn't want to be any taller.  :P

Lots of short musicians I look up to... Ronnie Dio, Neal Schon, Buck Dharma, Edward Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Mick Box, Joe Satriani, Laurie Wisefield, Paul Kossoff, Nuno Bettencourt, everyone in AC/DC.

Of course I have no choice about looking up to tall musicians...  :wink:
