Framus Dragon
« on: April 13, 2008, 10:31:41 PM »
Hey guys I have a framus dragon. I am playing it through a 212 cab loaded with v30s. I like the tone but it is lacking in the top end and doesnt seems to have a whole lot of harmonic content. I am thinking that my guitar with an emg 81 and 85 in the bridge is just not cutting it. I am looking for a tight bottom plenty ofmids and not harsh top ends with lots shimmer with out losing clarity. I also want it to have some pretty decent gain comparable to an 85. Here are pics of my guitar I made.I has a mahogany back with maple top and maple neck with a ziricote fingerboard. Let me know what you bkp gurus think I am at a loss.

I was thinking maybe nailbombs. ??[/img]

O yea I forgot to mention what kinda music I play. I tend to lean towards the heavy end of the music spectrum. I like playing mainly metal hardcore and blues. I like my cleans too so something that wont sound to sterile. I am not really much of a shredder but I like to attempt too. So those tones will important for the neck pick up.

some very nice guitars there, i really like the non-traditoonal carve and neckl lams on the grey one

i would say a miracle man set will do what you want, but nailbombs should be good too

ah, you should.. its work thats worth showing off and its probably more likely to win than anything i produce purely because a nice flamed or quilted maple top draws in a lot of votes

and it really annoys some of the trolls when i point out i am not entering to win.  Sounds strange but i only enter because people are always happier to be critical that way, rather than the 'wow' polite responses they give in the progress threads.  I have won a couple of times but never with the ones i expect to.

That is a gorgeous guitar :) Love the colour, the flame, and the shape. I wish I could be of some specific help about which BKPs you should choose, but I really have no experience with them (yet!).

I can tell you, though, that my friend has a Framus Dragon, and plays Nailbombs through it, and has never complained about a lack of harmonic content, so I think you're right in suspecting the pickups are the problem instead of the amp :)

I think the camo would look good :) I would be tossing up between nickel and camo, but I think the camo would look more interesting, and would work sort of tie the dark wood headstock and the grey body together, if that makes sense

That's a beautifully scallopped board right there. Camo would look fantastic.
