Gibson guitar of the month... improvement

Les Paul 'pushtone'

I was just browsing the GOTM things, and came across something which is actually a good idea! You could replace those Gibson pickups with a selection of BKPs :D

they are now also using Kahler's with locking tuners and no locking nut :?

That is truly genius! I am sure I am not the only one that asks why guitar pickup changes have to be such a hassle. Everytime I do it I ask myself why they haven't invented a way to make it easier. Finally!! Woohoo!!

hmm, black acrlic dots on an ebony board!!!  ebony is rarely completely black  but gibson obviously want to advertise that theirs would be a lower grade on this guitar

Yeah, actually take a look at what they say are the fretboard woods for each one, the diablo SG says rosewood I think, but its far darker than the pale ebony on the V, their woods don't seem to be the deep colours of past, and they want to advertise it :?

i really dont think much to the extra carving on those diablo/SG's either..  if they wanted to play with the contours the should have scooped out the bevels a little or made that top carve smoother than it is

..... they should really let me design for them

The pushtone is brilliant... but for the price I prefer to stay with the traditional system :)

I was wondering though, the fact there are clips in the length from the pup to the pots, doesn't it loose a bit of the quality of the signal? Or is it so marginal that you wouldn't hear it?

I quite like the PCB idea in the control cavity. It's neat!

Yes , a great idea - but I'd be more impressed if they came empty with two  BKP gift vouchers - and at that price a 'plecking' included.

Whoever came up with the Holy V needs beaten. Soundly. With a hammer which has no holes in it.

The Diablo I do like, which is odd. The SG is one of those designs I reckon is pretty much spot-on, visually at least.

I'd be happy to ditch the locking nut, but I wonder how well it works on a V, given the way the strings fan out behind the headstock?

I suspect the E strings will fall out of their slots when the strings are dropped down to slack.

And another thumbs-down for the black dots on an ebony board.  It's yet another of those "only Gibson would do that" ideas...

I was thinking they would maybe jump the slots. String retainer time?

Kahler have discontinued the quicklock nut! That would have a use on these guitars I would think, as its only 3 clips away from being locked..
Just when I want one of these nuts aswell          (annoyed)

I don't know why Kahler didn't carry on making their version of the Floyd style locking nut, with a built-in string retainer.  It was more elegant than the behind-the-nut string clamp.

It's a good job there's only 1000 of them. Otherwise I'd be tempted by the Silver Diablo. :) Mind you, I really must stop buying SGs. :)
