Going to go and sort out my new cab when my Laney sells so I was just wondering what speakers you guys would recommend.

I`ll be running a JCM800 2203/JMP (both 100w) into a 2x12.

These sorts of tones:

What about Celestion G12T-75's? A classic speaker that was used in old Marshalls.

Hate the 75's!! They sounded so fizzy and scooped when I played a Jubilee head through them.

Cheers though

G12H-30s, no question

G12M-65s would be my next suggestion

for slightly more modern tones with a fatter bass end, Classic Lead 80s.

Erm yeah, and I believe there are a few 75s in seconds out

From knowing what you want, sidewinders :P

They're modern sounding and fat but they do have alot of presence in them. So if the JCM800 is sounding bright, the CL80 may not be to best option if you like a warmer tone.

Maybe try the Eminence Red Coat

Ah - sorry.  Missed the 100w bit!

Hot 100s are a balanced speaker with a good full bass and smooth highs.  No nasty spikes or 'charcter' to deal with.  You get out what you put in.  I've played them in two different 2x12s and they sound superb.  Plus they're 97dB rated so you can crank your amp a bit more for the same volume as 100dB speakers like V30s  ;)

They're there, but not obtrusive.  In a lot of ways they have a fairly flat EQ, but they're not bland sounding.  They're "neutral" and let the character of your amp really come through.  I'd dismissed them even after good reviews from others as I saw them as cheap, nasty speakers.  I was wrong.  As "martinw" will tell you I'm a picky git with bat ears and I like them a lot.

For about £60 A PAIR you should give them a try!

I vote for sidewinders too
Will just got some and that s what i put in my 2x12 when I took the EVMs out
Power handling is 150W each - so a 2x12 handles 300watts

The guy Will bought from did have another 4 but don't know if he has anymore

I used them with a Fender Tonemaster head and they were a good match, wouldn't say they were a bright speaker imo - just PHAT, chunky and begged to be driven hard with overdrive.
