possibly

i mean she's been acting for a fair while now, it's unlikely she forgot how to for the first half of the series (which is not to say of course that everyone famous can act  I mean more than i've liked her in other things i've seen her in, too).

I liked homeland.

It was refreshing to see something deal with terrorism in a human and morally ambiguous way. Not condoning flying planes into buildings by a LONG shot, but "Terrorist" has become a linguistic facilitation for 'We can kill them with complete impunity and ethical justification, and so satisfy our lust for blood and violence in TV and film with a clear, smug conscience', which is both facile and boring.

Also, spartacus is back. The first two series rocked (from beginnings that promised nothing more that serialised 300 with more swearing and sex), 3rd is shaping up as well as can be expected.

And, walking dead. I dont know if I really like it, dont like it at all because I hate every single character in it, or really like it because I hate every character in it. I suppose its therefore good.

Red State

Believe it or not, I've never properly seen a Kevin Smith film before.  I'm guessing this isn't typical of his work.  Can't say I liked it, but it's certainly effective thanks to a couple of good performances.  Very talky though - I can see why Tarantino's a fan....

There's a brilliant bit from one of his standup shows where he talks about the suggestions that he'd direct the Green Hornet movie. "Kato and the Green Hornet are there leaning against the car chatting about stuff for 10 minutes, then Kato goes "what's that?", the rush out of shot and there's a brief scuffle off camera, the they stroll back to the car going "so yeah, anal sex...." "

So is that what his films are generally like?  It's not appealing to me much....

Red State has quite a lot of action, but it doesn't seem to be his forte - the pacing and timing is a bit "off".  Perhaps intentionally, of course, I don't know.  In some ways I think that worked in its favour, rather than it being a by-the-numbers horror/action movie.

His films are usually character driven comedies. I like them because they're REALLY funny, and they have an honesty and sweetness to them that's often missing from more mainstream fair.

I saw "Four Lions" yesterday. Dear God, I don't think I've laughed that hard in years. Absolutely brilliant!

I have finally gotten around to watching the first season of Lost. Surprisingly good I must say as I'm not really a series kinda guy. Now I'm off to season two  :D

quit now!   too many series where they clearly never had a plan and are making it up as they went along.  i think i kept watching it under the assumption they must be going somewhere with it.  I suppose in fairness some of it was enjoyable but i certainly wont ever watch it again now its all done.

i also find myself put off by any programmes advertised as 'from the makers of lost'
