Silent Hill Revelation. Not amazing but definitely better than the first one! For once I remembered to take my glasses to the cinema and the 3D worked so much better with those on. The ash falling at the start etc looked great.

I quite liked the 1st film, although I think I may be in a minority there.

I had very high hopes for the first film, because the director Christophe Gans' previous film, Brotherhood of the Wolf, is one of my all-time favourites.  As it turned out, it was very stylish, but a godawful mess.  :?

I watched Tucker and Dale Vs Evil a few days ago and quite enjoyed it.

It's a 'Redneck in the woods' type film but it's played very much for laughs and doesn't work like you think it's going to.

Just watched that. I thought it was hilarious.

I was also glad I didnt know anything at all about it before seeing it. Once you realise the flip around it makes (about 2 minutes in) its all pretty predictable. Like horror opposite day. But it keeps it up well and does it wittily.

I'm a little gutted about that. BotW I loved and also really liked the first SH. Shame they ballsed it up.

Anyone seen Outpost 2 yet..? That's another I'm a little wary of.

When you say VFX (which I assume is Visual FX?) is that stuff done with PCs or stunts done in real life etc?

I was only saying to my girlfriend after we'd watched Skyfall how I like the Bond films as they tend to be more about real stunts than CGI as in alot of other films of similar style. Hopefully I'm right when I say that!

It is the CGI end of things that I do, though I spent a lot of time on set and location during the shoot (it's why I was in Turkey for two months this spring). There's a lot of real stunt and on set special effects in the film but there's a lot of digital effects too, a year's worth of work in my company's case.

It's a complete and utter nonsensical shambles.

On the other hand, if you didn't think Outpost was a complete and utter nonsensical shambles, you might like Outpost 2: Black Sun.  :P

have to admit I've avoided Iron Sky. Really mixed reviews of it. I might just have to give it a go though.

Nazi zombies.... a very good idea in principle, but rarely in practice, I find.

I do like Zombie Lake and Shock Waves, although they're..... not really very good.  Dead Snow was good fun.

Dead Snow is the daddy of the genre. Any film with the tagline Ein Zwei DIE! has to be awesome.

Machete shamelessly stole the usage of intestines as a means of abseiling from it.

Watched a few more films last night:

The Dictator The Sacha Baron Cohen film. I really enjoyed this, but I can imagine some might not depending on their sense of humour   It's daft as hell but there are worse ways to spend 90minutes of your life.

Inbreds This is like a cross between the Rednecks from Deliverence meets the weird family from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with the surreal black humour of The League Of Gentlemen.

It centres around a group of people who go to a small isolated vilage somewhere in Yorkshire and get set upon by the locals. It's pretty standard stuff for the most part but it has some rather bizarre surreal moments in it.

Nazi zombies are just a way of making people who want to kill other people happy. In a sensibly moral way.

I'm not complaining though.

Stake Land - basically The Road, but with vampires.  The low budget is occasionally obvious, but good atmosphere, good musical score, good use of locations.... well worth a watch.

The Cabin In The Wood. Not sure if I enjoyed this or thought it was utter shite!
