I didn't know a lot about this before watching it, other than the fact Bruce Willis was in it.... it turned out to be much, much better than the run-of-the-mill science fiction thriller I was expecting.  Good stuff!

Yep, that was my opinion of it too when I saw it last year sometime.

After all the praise it received here I've bought the 1st 3 series of Breaking Bad on DVD.

So if it turns out to be rubbish you collectively owe me 20quid

I did the same with Firefly (partly due to the positive word-of-mouth, partly because it was only a small number of episodes!)

But I'll probably never get round to watching it.

you both need to stop what you are doing and get on with it

Just watched "End og Watch" last and found it very good. Great performances by the main characters and the hand held filming had a documentary-effect that suited the film well (and almost gave me nausea). Very recommendable.

I've been to watch Man Of Steel today as I've been off work most of the week and didn't have much else to do!

I really enjoyed this new version of it. I grew up on the Christopher Reeve Superman films so all of my knowledge of the characters and their world etc comes from that, but apparently this new version is s'pposed to be closer to a particular series of the comics. I can't say that with 100% certainty as I've never read the comics but that's what I'm told by a friend that's more into that side than me.

Earlier on in this thread I kind of slated Iron Man 3 for being slow in places and not having too much action for most of the film, and in alot of ways Man Of Steel is the same, but it just seems to work better here if that makes any sense at all?

I wasn't overly taken with the new version of General Zod, but I guess that's down to the fact that I have Terrence Stamps version pretty much ingrained in my mind from seeing Superman 2 many times as a kid (and adult if I'm being honest  ).

There's also a fair few pointers to possible upcoming films from the same universe, but I wont' say too much incase that's classed as spoilers and I don't want to ruin it for anyone that may go and see it themselves.

I really want a proper swamp thing film.  really hoping Del Toro ges that way with his DC film.  I expect he will feature in Dark Universe but he deserves a film series of his own charting the rise from Scientist to Monster to God... preferably with a brief stint hurling himself through space

Stoker - really liked this. as with all Chan-wook Park films it is bat-shite crazy and absolutely beautiful.   It does lack the vengeance style ending of  "i do this to you because....."  but those were always the weakest moments that translated for the worse in his other films.  leaves you with plenty to ponder on.  sound track is awesome with a stunning piano scene i need to revisit

I must try to see it.  I admit, I'd kind of dismissed it, assuming it would suffer from the usual "foreign director crushed by Hollywood machine" syndrome.  Although it probably isn't really a Hollywood movie at all, I expect....?

I tried watching but lost interest mid way through the second episode. Completely ridiculous yes. Jane still watches it, I disappear upstairs to play guitar when she does.
I think I hate being indecisive.
