How does the Korina compare to the Mahogany of the Mira? I've only ever heard an Epiphone V korina and that didn't exactly sound that great    no fault of the korina though.

If you do get a green one, change your name to Tripletfan.

really nice guitar Dave, but it's slightly worrying that just when I think you've shown us all your guitars you post pix of another one I've never seen before, ha ha.  never seen the red one before either.

is the Korina one a 'silly money' PRS or more on the affordable side? - I'd like a PRS in my collection but won't cough up £2k for one.

Very nice indeed but a strange spot for the toggle switch.

The red one is a Mira, HTH.  I've posted it before on the site.

The McCarty is reasonable money I guess - £1800.  Yes, that's a lot of cash but the guitar is SERIOUSLY good.  I absolutely love it.  So much so, that a major cull of the guitar collection is imminent.  These two cover a lot of bases, especially with their coil taps.  The Mira is an SG/Tele and the McCarty is a Les Paul/Strat.  I'm a complete PRS convert

The best way I can describe the tone differences is like this:

Mira = Angus Young on the AC/DC "If You Want Blood" live album (think 'Bad Boy Boogie')

McCarty Korina = Brian Robertson on the Thin Lizzy "Live and Dangerous" album (think 'Still In Love With You')

Ahhh damn you, everytime I see a Mira, I like it more.  :x

Sorry.

The korina looks sweet. Is this what they call "white korina"? (as opposed to black limba which is sometimes also called korina... very confusing) A Mira in that wood/color would be schmex.

Yep, it's white limba that gets branded as 'korina'.

If PRS make a korina Mira in the future, I'll buy one  ;)

Ditto, but maybe only if it's a 22-fretter.

The McCarty looks great, Dave, I knew you'd end up buying it!

It's awesome Phil - as good as I thought it would be.  I couldn't resist it.

I also played a McCarty Artist Pack with a rosewood neck @ £2999 but the korina suited the tone I was after better.  The McCarty AP was a bit more strat-like and a good all rounder but it I wanted more of a contrast with the Mira.

Plus I didn't have 3 grand!

It's interesting looking at the two guitars side-by-side and comparing the 24-fret with the 22-fret.  I like the way they compensate for the two extra frets by moving the bridge rather than re-sizing the body or making the cutaways deeper.  Neat.

Yep, both are very comfortable to play.  I'd say the McCarty just feels that bit better to me, and I think it's a 22 fret thing.  They're both awesome guitars though.  The wife has named them "Caramel" and "Fudge"

I've got 4 others currently earmarked for dropping at Sounds Great on Monday for commission sales.  Great guitars, but I'm just not going to play them any more...
