Need help, earth problem
« on: April 26, 2008, 04:34:46 PM »
after installing my MM set on my strat I noticed a background hum that I thought must be from not earth the volume control to the spring claw, well I finally got around to doing this today & after messing it about & sorting it, it turns out that it's made no difference! I touch the spring claw & the noise disappears, anyone got  any help for an idiot please?

Is the block on the trem (that thing where the other end of the springs go) a conducting material?

Maybe you need to ground it on the trem itself or the trem posts.
