Matt has his guitar now - came down on Saturday to collect
Think he will be a bit too busy playing for a few days to comment on here about it
I am looking forward to when he gets his new Martamp and starts making clips - nice stuff!

:?:  Hypothetically speaking, could an existing LP or LP Jr neck joint be re-shaped like that, or is it a fundamentally different construction?

(I know it would be a total pain to do a partial re-finish)

Looks like the same neck joint for a Les Paul but carved, etc. me thinks the costs would be a little high.

Sadly not Phil as Gibson's tenon joing is somewhat different to ours

I fear that if we were to try:
1) We would uncover big gaps where the tenon goes into the body - whereas our tenon is full neck width
2) We would weaken the joint because Gibson use a short tenon while ours goes deep right under the neck pocket

Maybe worth X-Raying to check the joins?

Yeah, I thought that might be the case.  I know (well, I think  ) on my Juniors the tenon is full-width, but it doesn't extend beyond the end of the neck.

Oh well, just a thought.  Thanks Jon.

Just how far do your neck tenons go? Is it to Gibson's long neck spec, where its just through to the neck pickup, or is it right to the other side?

Ours go as far as the neck pickup pocket will allow
We dont go further than the neck pickup usually, but it is a deep and long tenon, and full neck width so it does help strengthwise.

I think Gibson started out a similar length - although thinner- at least on the treble side
