Should it stay or should it go
« on: May 03, 2008, 11:26:16 AM »
Hello there! I have just purchased the Jackson shown here from a freind for £170. I belive it to be a DR3, heres the dilema; I dont know if I like it? Should I sell it and buy a Ibanez RGT42DX or does somebody know something that I dont and it should be saved and loved? I will be putting a set of Nailbombs in it, I was going to put a sustainer in there but that idea seems to be null and void. It plays well but I am suffering from greener grass syndrome. Any opinions?

I voted yes - sell it.

If you have doubts about a guitar - any guitar, these doubts are unlikely to go away. I would certainly sell and move on.

I haven't voted, but the question I would ask is: do you enjoy playing it, or do you always pick up something else ahead of it? IMHO there's no point keeping a guitar you don't like playing - it's just taking up space that could be occupied by something you like.

In my experience, the gut is usually right about these things. I bought an Ibanez RG470 about 7 years ago, because it was what I thought I wanted, but I was never sure about it. Sold it a year later, having played it for maybe 4 hours at the most. Like I said, the gut is seldom wrong.

^Ibanez RGT 42DX.
Very cool guitar and I seem to get on well with Ibanez, the other guitar in the picture is an Ibanez and I never had second thoughts about it, awesome guitar.

My mind is made up and the Jackson is on its way. The one vote for, is actually a vote against if you read the voters post. Hell even I voted the Motherf****r outta' here.
Anyway, Dave MC, I know nothing about locking trems and I wouldn't really know a bad one from a good one? What's up with the Ibanez trem on the RGT?

+1
Also, the older Jacksons are the best ones, imo. I have a 1990 Pro that I've owned since new, and it's one of my favourite guitars. Will have to try a BKP in there one of these days.

Seriously, get the ibanez.  You will get so much more bang for your buck, even if the ibanez is used and the same price!

Does it serve a porpose in your collection that another guitar doesn't cover? If not, sell it.

I'm not a fan of Jacksons anyway, so I'd vote to sell it.

btw, you have the same hi-fi speakers as me - good choice.

H.T.H ^ awesome speakers, I have them paired up with the Marantz PM6002, I was listening to Sepultura 'Roots' last night for the first time since I've had them, I think it might have destroyed some of my internal organs. They are so bassy for such little units.
The guitar is on EBay as we speak.
