VHIIs installed but not suitable for my style HELP!

Hey guys ive had a VHII in my strat for a while now and its an amazing sounding pickup.
Recently, ive started a new band where the tone is similar to that of Matchbook Romance, Alexisonfire, Brand New and 30 Seconds to Mars etc etc.
Im looking for something which is more modern sounding and can handle a bit more gain (as my VHII is very noisy at higher gain).

Im playing an alder strat w/ maple board if that helps.

Should i stick with what i have or is there something more suitable out there.

Hmm...

I'd suggest a Nailbomb or a Miracle-Man.

But if in doubt why not give Tim a call sometime (I wouldn't go for today though, considering its Sunday.).

Holy Diver? Modern, handles distortion very well, suitable for strat, great clean tone.

Re:VHII and noise at hi gain-it shouldn't be noisy at all so best get the wiring checked.

I only have a Holy diver, but funnily enough, I was sat there watching music channels, and that 30 seconds mars thing came on.
I am sure a Holy diver would be very suited to that style, although, I have only heard one song :P

Yeah after listening to '30 seconds...' I'll go with the status quo and go for a Holy Diver.

I've got VHIIs in my Jackson and they're not noisy at all.  Something's not right.  I'd check your pedalboard as that's the usually the first source of noise problems...

Wrong set-up can cause lots of noise problems.

Re: the noise thing, it definately looks suspect. Also when i press down on the strings above the pickup i get a horrible scratching type noise!

Oh and this is straight into an amp, no pedals in the signal chain! Ive also tried another amp too and its occuring there as well!

Could this be dodgy installation? (I put them into a shop to get installed)

anyone come across my problem with the noisy pickup and crazy noises when strings are slightly depressed?

Not come across that issue before, but any decent tech should be able to sort it for a small price.  I'd check all the solder joints, re-doing them along the way.  That usually cures most problems for me.
