Warpig clips at last!

Done on my new Maplin's rig that I got today.

All in all cost less than £100

Picture of said-Maplins rig?

I LIKE YOUR TONE! It's missing something though I think.

EDIT: I like 1 and 2 best.

Rig comprised of two Maplin's brand mics (one from Prosound and the other from the Yoga range) held in a triple headed mic bit.
Maplin's own mic - line voltage converter

going into a Denon Minidisc deck that came off a car boot sale for a tenner.

I prefer the sound of the second mic placement (clips 2-4).

Guitar was my Maverick F1/Streetfighter hybrid loaded with a ceramic Warpig set into an Orange Tiny Terror.

Pedals were a Boss SD-1 and a Danelectro FAB Flanger.

The clips are just me noodling around really and the playing is a bit shaky in places.

I thought TT couldn't (as much as people tried to set it as) play Metal. Your playing, if I'm not mistaken is Metal. Unless you really like Jazz and shred into blues free-form odyssey-esque solos.

I don't have a picture hosting site account and I need to dismantle the setup to clear the way to my bed so I'm sorry I can't do pics.

What was weird was that the boost from the converter meant that I needed to place the mics at least a foot away from the source (and these are cardioid mics) to avoid clipping. I also had to turn down the volume on the amp a fair bit so it is kind of on the verge of the point where it isn't quite leaving the compression point.

I think that those are the reasons along with it being so cheaply done that you feel it is missing something.

It is a gain monster it's just very midsy and lots of metal players aren't so keen on the warmth of the class A structure I think.

The heaviest sections are done with the Boss SD-1 on max volume and max gain so that helps too!

All amp settings and mic placements are the same on clips 2-4 (they are in fact from the same take).

+1, nice and crunchy but it seems to be lacking a little body, can't put my finger on it, you may want to layer the guitars and screw a bit with the panning.

I think the lack of body has to do with the distance from the cab more than  anything.

I could look into getting a third mic and close micing the cab but I'd need to get a small microphone mixer with panning.

The Yoga is on the left channel and the Prosound is on the right if you are interested at all.

The third mic I would put central and not as loud as the others so that the signal booster didn't make it overpower the recording amp.

This is without any production whatsoever so there is no multi-tracking, no compression and no EQ on any of the clips.
