I'm gutted...... guitar damage :(

I'm just back from holidays and i took out my beloved Tokai Love Rock to play again and have discovered damage :( A chip in the neck and the toggle swtich was essentially bust. I had just moved home from college last week and this was the first time i have taken the guitar out. The damage couldn't have been done in transit as the guitar was in its case and well secured :( All i can think of is that in the last 3 days or so of college someone knocked it over in my room cause i treat my guitar like gold and would defiantly remember knocking it over hard enough to do that kind of damage.

I can easily fix/replace the toggle switch but I'm at a loss what to do about the chip in the neck. It's only a small chip (like it got hit off the corner of my desk or something) on the lower half of the neck round the 6th fret (under the B string ) and it doesn't affect playability that much but if i happen to be playing a certain chord or whatever i feel it and it's really annoying. Has anyone had experience with getting these kinds of things fixed. I have a small chip or two in my headstock already (thank you broken locking strap :x) but thats merely cosmetic whereas this is affecting the playability of my guitar.

I'm really gutted as i have a set of BKP's on the way and now i discovered this . Sorry for the rant but i needed to tell someone who actually knows my pain!

Yeah I know how you feel. I like the look of relic guitars but everytime I get some damage on one of my own it annoys me. I once hit my Charvel with a can of Mr Sheen when I was shaking it vigorously with the guitar on my lap, I felt like a complete w :oops: r          
 
Anyway, the damage is done, the best I can suggest is try to get some kind of repair laquer to fill the hole and just call it rock 'n' roll.

I surely can understand how you feel (all been there), in fact I broke necks on two of my guitars due to shaky stages and bad guitar stands.

So what, gotta get over it. Even a Les Paul with a broken neck can still fetch a million bucks (=> Gary Moore/Peter Green LP). In the end it's what you get out of it in tone and not what the lacquer on it looks like.

And nowadays I like guitars to look a bit beaten up. Whenever I play a brand new guitar without any chips or so, I feel like a bedroom w**ker :O)

Yeah i don't mind the chips etc. (ive already mentioned the one ones on the headstocks and i also took a bit of a chunk out of the binding  :oops: ) but whats really getting me is the way it affects the playability! I suppose i'll just have to lacquer it up and get on with it, once i can't feel it it won't bother me at all!

Guitars are a funny thing, If you damage it yourself, you don't really mind too much but would rather it not happen. But if someone else does it, it's gut wrenching  :lol:

I've been like it with my very first guitar (some prat at school years ago knocked it over or purposely done it) and my first Strat (brother did it but never admitted it).

A dab of crazy glue will do the trick, just don't gob it on all at once.
