Boosted. I don't know how I used to like scooping my mids when I was younger. You get so much more 'crunch' and expressive tone with mids when using a bit of gain.

flat- i tend to have just enough to cut through when im playing live, but not so much as to be overpowering. treble and bass usually slightly lower

I like mine at about the same level as treble, so I voted flat.  I then bring up enough bass to suit the room or cabinet or tone I'm after.

mids!!! - whats that?   I dont think my amp has such a control.... infact i dont think i have ever owned an amp with a mid control

In the context of pickups/guitar, I vote Boosted:

I like a lot of mid range "push" into the amp - gives a warm punchy clean sound & a nice "growl" for high gain.  My favourite bridge pickups are Holy Diver followed by Painkiller...

However, listening to my clips you'd be forgiven for thinking I'm a scopped mid player.  The Engl Savage seems to have a naturally scooped voice for the lead channel - I have the mid on 4 & if I use the BBE I only have the controls around 3.  Still, it works for me...

I use the middiest pickups Bareknuckle do, in a middy guitar, a tubescreamer boosting mids into an amp set with a lot of.. MIDS!

I like mids.

I like too play with the mids alot with my boss EQ because they add much more character and punch, grind, tightness and overall just sound good.

Before I got my Crawlers, I boosted the mids on my amp, now I scoop slightly for the distorted tones. The Crawler bridge is probably the middiest pick-up in the BKP range and I run it through a tubescreamer style pedal, so even though the mid knob is backed down a little on the amp, it's fair to say my sound is far from scooped.

I've been into the scooped thing for years but  in a band (unless you're using 50 amps or a Herbert with silly settings) it'll sound like a$$.

The lead channel of my Einie is more saturated & scooped that I use sometimes, but I've got a Tubescreamer that gets about as much use too...

Scooped - Metallica

As for boosted and flat, not really sure. ACDC is quite a middy sound imo. Also, Slashes lead tone sounds like it might have boosted mids, its got that nasal kinda sound on November Rain.

I like mine boosted or flat. Boosted is best for leads :)

not many fans of scooped mids here... i used to scoop them myself for the agression. but in the last few years i found boosted mids can also sound very agressive if done right. and for the electronic music i make it helps to cut through as well.
