I'm not sure.

I don't really boost the mids particularly but I gravitate towards midsy equipment like my Orange TT and I like the sound of humbuckers more than single coils (haven't tried P-90s though so watch this space!).

When I do get a mid control I might roll it off slightly but then I'd boost it with a midsy overdrive :? .

When I was a young metalhead I scooped the mids. As I grew more towards a more vintage full sound, I added more mids. Then came BKP's wich weren't muddy in the mids.

Now I have the mids on my amp flat. Old bassman amps didn't even have a mid control, so I leave mine at 12 o' clock. So I voted flat.

However, the two guitars I use most, The Yamaha SG with Crawlers and the Gretsch Power Jet with TV Jones Powertrons both have pickups with added mids wich are great to push a tube amp.

Mids on 4 on the amp, then have high mids low treble boosted on an EQ and the low mids to bass slowly cutting down

For everything I do, mids are probably the highest setting on my amp.

I love how clear everything is, for clean, metal rhythm, or lead. When I do leads, I'd rather have more sustain than an EQ change

Definitely boosted (but not over-boosted). Scooped mids take away the body of the sound.

Depends

I used to kill mids mercilessly.

Now I use whatever amount is required, or whatever amount I feel like.

The mid is the EQ dial that I muck about with the most.

I put flat, though. Its most often round there.

When you run a jcm 800 everything is set to 11 including the mids - except of course the treble which is down at about 2!

Boosted as much as needed, DEFINITELY not scooped. Best example I can use as for why, went to a gig in Swindon on Saturday, all the bands except one (The Arusha Accord) scooped their mids, and every band except that one particular band had fizzly, undefined guitars which if anything, just gave me a terrible headache, it didn't sound good, I could hardly make out what was being played without looking at the guitarists hands, the other band on the otherhand had very defined guitars, easy to pick out each individual note (and this is pretty technical fast music).

Considering most electric guitars are mid based instruments, mids = good sound.
