First time using box.net so hopefully should work.

Clip made to test out my new mixer and Blackstar HT-Dual.

Channel one of the dual is set to clean with the volume and gain down low to reduce the volume into the input of the amp. Channel two is set to boost the amp (I need more time to find the sweet spot on this I think...)

I apologise for the sloppy playing as this was done this morning just after 9:00.

Sounded pretty thin to be honest. :? But I can hear what you're going for and with a bit more work, it should be there.

I think the setup just needs tweaking a little (I really need to find the point on the Dual where I'm getting the boost I want without it becoming sludgy...).

The clean sound was much better in person (and much less crunchy I have to say...).

I could also try to get some better microphones sometime (possibly a SHURE although I would love a Sennheiser despite the asking price.).

yeah, it seemed that there was all that crunch without much lower mids and lacking on the bass (though i could hear it a little), general body i guess.

I think it might be that the microphone isn't so hot on those frequencies as I was actually fighting back the bass and lower mids generated by the pedal as I was setting up before recording. :?

Is it an SM57 or SM58? If not, get one.

the recording medium is distorting like crazy, your input level must be way too high. I concur with the others, it sounds pretty underwhelming , but please do keep on trying and posting your clips.

Hmm. I think that may have been because I was using a Sony walkman minidisk recorder rather than the Denon I used before and the levels were nigh on impossible to read as there was only one colour on the screen.

I'll get it sorted one day.
