A few photos from my weekend of guitars......
« on: May 26, 2008, 11:45:40 PM »
Hey guys.

Over the past few days I've taken the time to finish up 2 of 4 projects I've got going and here's some photos of the finished items. The photos aren't that great as I had to use a cr@ppy camera, but I'll hopefully get new photos of everything as soon as everything's finished.

The 1s I did the main work on were the Honeyburst Strat and the Lake Placid Blue Strat.

The Honeyburst Strat has an Ash Roger Giffin body (he built Schecter guitars for Pete Townsend) and a Mexi Fender neck that was originally on TOs RR Strat if I remember correctly. It's a guitar I bought from Tom on here to put some Apaches in, but that changed.

It was meant to have a Cold Sweat in the bridge and a single volume control, but while I was wiring it all up, it kept grounding out somewhere inside the guitar on the copper tape, so in the end I wired the pickup straight to the output jack.

The Blue Strat is a 93' Japanese Squier strat that I got with money from when my Grandma died back in February. It's now got the Apaches in it that I originally ordered for the Honeyburst Strat. I was originally going to take the black covers off, and put the aged covers on from a set of SD Antiquities, but I know that my Grandma would've moaned at me for it being how it is now because the colours don't match, so I decided to leave it that way :D

The middle Apache on the Blue Strat isn't currently working (as per my thread in the Tech section), but it was before I strung it up. So the next time I change strings (if not before) I'll rip it to bits again to see what's wrong with it.

The one I sold you looks great as a single hum, almost wish I didnt sell it now! Did you have to file down the pg or did you manage to find somewhere that sells ones that fit it nicely?

I got the scratchplate from Axes R' Us for about £12 I think. To get it to fit I had to take the bridge off entirely but apart from that it fit fine :)

I've never played Emo, but I was in an Indie rock band for a few years until just before christmas when I quit due to egos and backstabbing finally doing my head in.

I never really fit in with that band as I've always loved 60s and 70s classic rock and 80s hair metal, hence the cool superstrat :D

please accept my apologies, obviously you got that reputation somehow ;) seems like that burst strat has great forum history.

While it's not completely my cup of tea, I do really like what you've done to that single humbucker strat. Not sure about the blue one, but hey colour is a very personal taste thing ;)

Roo

PS doesn't indie rock + egos + backstabbing = EMO? :D You did well getting out of there, whatever you call it ;)

I have no idea where that reputation came from. I wouldn't really say the Indie band I was in was even 'Whiny Indie'

The band was fine, and even had some good songs, but what's the point if all it's about is bickering and stabbing each other in the back etc.

Ah well, back to my roots I guess!  :D
