Has anyone on here done it? I'm going to be giving it a go next year - either getting a space through the ballot or running for charity.
I think I hate being indecisive.

Cheers Phil - I'm guessing that from your knowledge of fellow forum users I am not likely to find anyone on here that has done it!

and cheers for the offer of sponsorship - when it gets nearer the time I will post something on the forum.

Well I don't live in London and it seems frightening long to be honest, not quite sure on the distance exactly but I'd keel over around 1/4 of it or something.

I can't speak for anyone else, Ian, but you'd never find me attempting it!  :)

26 miles, 385 yards.  Used to just be the 26 miles, but they extended it by 385 yards at the London Olympics in 1908 so the King and Queen could see the finish from the royal box!

I walked one once- cos it was a sponsored walk ( though my mate and I turned up late and did the first ten or so miles running)-but I was 19 years old and very fit in those days. I do go running a fair bit but nothing like  marathon distance.

I've done a half marathon. The toughest part is finding enough time to get all your training in, especially the once a week long run.

The only running I do is for the bus when I see it go past me on the way home as I come out of Hyde Park. :(

Not got round to it... And probably never will...!!

However I know a few people who have and getting a place is very difficult, especially on the 1st year of application. Getting one through a charity is one way (quite a number of charities arrange a block of entries, and you need to prove that you can raise them plenty of sponsorship), another is to have gone on other runs & 1/2 marathons, etc, to prove that you're serious.

Good luck!
