Vovox ... amazing!
« on: May 29, 2008, 11:20:39 AM »
Well guys... now I'm a nearly "guitar straight to the amp" guy ( still love my pedals every now and again though ) I wanted to "hear" my guitar in its purer form.
What to do? Get a the best cable I could find.... I've been using Klotz and Whirlwind for a long time now with good results but I decided to take the plunge and spend some good dough on a "boutique" cable.

I bought this one:

it was high €€€  so I though it better sound great.:hmm:

Physically it looks weird; the cable is sort of twisted and the covered in a funny looking material. It looks and feels more like some sort of high tech rope for rock climbing than a guitar cable. Besides it's very thick and not too flexible...

Hos does it "sound"??

I tried it with my BKP apache loaded strat.

Well, I wasn't prepared for what was coming.

THis cable makes the guitar sound so much more alive that I'm sold forever. It does not add anything but the dampening factor has been lifted off ( even with a 6 meter cable ) and everything sounds sparklier and thighter. The guitars sounds "more" if you know what I mean.

It's one of those things that make you go... how could I play now without it?? it's a worrying thought if I'm totally honest.

anyway, I love it and I urge you to try one if you can. I do NOT know how it compares to other good cables like George L, monster cables, etc but this Swiss company is doing something right.

I would be really interested to hear your opinions on how this compares to a ClearTone cable. They're cheap (very cheap), but in my experience worlds better than Planet Waves and cables of that ball-park price. I've not tried a very expensive cable yet to hear how much tone the ClearTones suck (if any) relative to this kind of outlay, though...

+1!

Vovox rule definitely! They not only retain clarity, but a few pounds of punch as well, which makes them specia as opposed to other $$$ cables

What I like about Vovox  is that they aply what I call the "God-method".

Instead of aplying electronic engineers principles that only work on paper and  that leaves out and/or misses the influence of lots of unknown data VOVOX uses their knowledge in material sciencie. They use materials and method that SOUND better not materials or methods that SHOULD sound better.

Big difference.
