Holy Diver fun with 4 channels

Paternity leave + wife out of house with toddler + baby asleep downstairs = time to play! :D

Of all the HD clips I've done, I've never used my custom shop Jackson for one, so I thought I'd put that right :)  It's a really simple knockabout (no click track/layering etc) based around E & Bb chords, using all 4 channels of my amp to give you a feel of how well the HD goes "through the gears".

Guitar: Jackson Kelly with Holy Diver bridge
Amp: Engl Savage 120 head, Mesa Recto 2x12" cab (vintage 30s)
FX: MXR M134 chorus, TC Electronic G-Major rev/dly (channels 1 & 2 only)
Mic/Recording: SM-57, Presonus Bluetube DP, Fostex MR-16HD

Enjoy :)

IMO the distortion sounds a bit dry, maybe it's because there's not a band there. I personally would add some reverb to the distortion.

Very nice - my fav is channel 3, it's so 80s with a modern twist!

Here's the best I can do in 5 mins with Guitarpro :)  There are no secrets to this part - as I said in the first post, it's basically noodling around with E/Bb chords.

Thanks :)

If there's one thing I'd change about the Savage it's the balance/interaction between Channels 3 & 4: they share the same eq and the ch3 gain control (ch4's gain is ch3+ch4 gain).

There are tones on Ch3 that are pure JCM800/Jubilee (well, as near as you can get with a 6550 power section), but that compromises the full-on metal sound of Ch4.  Basically, you have to choose the gain sound you want most & live with whatever you get from the other gain channel.

However, it's not a major gripe - I'd have been happy with just ch1,2&4 so ch3 is a bonus...

Oh come on guys it wasn't that dark, just a bit of minor 2nd work and metalicaesque riffage (only the first couple seconds really) :P  But in all seriousness, the beginning was nice and saturated but riff 2 was thin as someone else mentioned.  Riff 3 is really where it all starts beefing up.  Nice work as always buddy :)
BKPz: Nailbomb+VHII, more to come...
