Looking for a single 'bucker supertrat?

Just thought I'd give everyone who is blissfully unaware (as I was until I saw it in Metal Hammer) a heads-up, there is another option to add to the pile.

Anyone seen the Godin Redline 1? Apparently Kirk Hammet uses them. They do look rather tasty.  :D

Anyway, not read any reviews yet so I have no idea if they are meant to be any good, but it might be of interest to someone.

The design is rather dull, but the Trans Green colour option is quite appealing.

The trans-green one is acceptable IMO, mostly for the 24 frets. Why you would go for any less than 24 on a single pup guitar is beyond me.  I've seen much nicer Godins though.

That green one looks awesome though!  :D

Also had another thought, I think the Christian Olde Wolbers signature Dinky is a single 'bucker too. Some of the paint jobs on that are horrendous though.

I have the 7 string version of the COW dinky and it's the balls. Though the camo finish it terrible and ugly.

Here's a question for you superstrat enthusiasts.  Does anyone make a superstrat with a fat, round Gibson-style neck?

All the ones I've tried (not that many, admittedly) have those sort of shallow C or maybe the flatter-backed shallow D shapes, which I don't get on with at all.

I don't think there's a huge market for a superstrat with a Gibson neck. Superstrats are for speed not comfort.

Yeah, well-remembered, there were a couple of mid-eighties Ibanez AH models.  Nice looking Strat-types, very much like a Roadstar series version of the Charvels he was using before.  They weren't expensive models though, so I'm not sure if they had special neck shapes.

Sadly not, although I did have very bad GAS for an Ibanez AH-1 in Macaris a few years back, it was almost mint. I have seen some since but never in as good condition.
However I do have a Fernandes replica of his Charvel model, and the neck is fairly round and chunky, definitely much bigger than any typical superstrat. I'm not sure how similar the spec is to an original early 80s Charvel Holdsworth neck.

Sounds like a job for Warmoth. You could get a strat neck with their 59 roundback profile.

Yes indeed, or the SRV shape which I quite like the look of.  Expensive, but maybe one day.  It was just a fleeting idea really!  :lol:

I remember when you got your Fernandes, because I had (well, still have, in bits....  :oops: ) a very similar looking Squier.  Nice guitar!  Didn't you almost buy a similar Charvel at one point?
