Could neck pickup sound like a bridge

well, while we're being down-to-earth and giving friendly advice...

i've been considereing what pickups to get for a while (for an LP). i'm split between a Mule IV set and a mule IV neck Emerald V bridge. tim, you said the mixed tones from an IV and V were very good, are the emlerald and mule winds as such that they would work well together? would the "both pickups together" position sound good clean?

I feel more than confident the Mule V bridge and IV MQ in the neck will surpass any expectations I have.  Once I get the cash and buy the pickups I will definitely post some clips to continue this down to earth forum.

Where in New York are you?  I have an Explorer and it will have a Warpig Bridge with the Mississippi Queen neck next week sometime.  You are welcome to try it if you are near Hoboken.   I also have a PRS with a Cralwer bridge and 2 P-91's if you want to hear the contrast.

I'm actually in Queens.  Closer to long island.  I put NYC because I figured most people on this board have no clue where queens is...lol

Quick question though.  I think since I've joined this board you have been waiting for these pickups "Warpig & Mississippi queen".  Does it take that long to receive them in our area?  Or are you having them fitted some place special?  If its the second choice,  where do you recommend I have mine fitted.  I always went to a guy I knew in the city that worked out of his house.  He use to work @ Manny's guitar shop for a long while, but his time is getting scarce due to other things he has going on.  Thanks

No, it doesn't take that long.  The problem is that I wanted them both in raw nickel covers and I had to wait until they got the tooling so they could put the 2 sets of holes for the Warpig and centre set of holes for the Mississippi Queen.  Now they have the tooling they can make the covers as they need them.  

I also told Tim that I was in no rush because the guitar was in shipping and I wasn't sure when it would get here.  Once they mail them out they take about 5 business days to get here.  

I do all my own work (other than fretting and major surgery!), so I always fit my own pickups.  This lets me play with the wiring if I want, though since this is going into an explorer, I will just do the regular wiring.

I have an Emerald V/Mule IV combo in my goldtop.  I took it into the city for Ben (TwilightOdyssey) to try.  He loved it - check out this link here: http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1180

I think they sound great together and you have a lot of variation in sounds.  The both pickups together sound is very 'Peter Green'.  It is great for clean sounds, or just a little push when you want it.

thanks man, i will most likely go for that combo when i eventually get my LP (which due to my current financial status will sadly be a tokai rather than a Feline....)

5 business days...lol  That is super fast.  It takes that long for me to get a package from Jersey...hahah

I need to start playing 24x7 if these pickups will make all my mistakes come to life...I sound horrible as it is...haha

I think that's a great idea, or go one step further and get an Abraxas bridge with an ALnico V.
The Alnico V/IV combo is amazing in the middle position-serious quack :D
