Pickups for a Paul Reed Smith Custom 22 trem?
« on: June 12, 2008, 06:50:42 AM »
I was hoping I could ask for a recommendation on what pickups would suit a PRS Custom 22. My musical styles vary quite a lot so im not looking for a pickup that excels in any one particular sound, more something that will balance the brightness of my PRS.  I dont want the output to be too high, but the bridge pickup will need to be able to handle high gain rhythms going no lower than drop D as well as pretty cleans. Think Porcupine Tree for those that are fans.

So what wisdom can you all give me?  :)

VHIIs are superb all rounders and work very well in a PRS  :)

And welcome bythe way!

Thank you for the advice and the welcome! I owned a set of Crawlers awhile back, but they got lost in the quagmire of pickup swapping. Ive been trying to find the perfect albeit elusive lower output pickup that isnt too bright in a trem equipped, maple capped guitar. I may give the VHII a try!

Hunter here on the forum has a set in an Edwards Les Paul and he's really happy with them.  If you do a search, you'll find some of his (excellent) clips  :)
