Ok A little rant here, I just need somewere to vent.

I decided to sell some pedals I dont use anymore on ebay, I said on my listing That I will only post to the UK, yet I still get the e-mails from people from spain etc, asking If I would post it to them outside of the UK, I of course reply saying No I wont thinking they wont be stupid enough to bid on my item.

But Of course one of them did. He is also one of the people that e-mailed me. He is now threatening me with negative feedback if I dont Post the item to him. (not that he has paid me yet)

What Can I do? I know I could just post it to them but I dont need the hassle (or have the time) of getting quotes for posting it to spain.

Ok change that, One of my other items has just finished and THat bidder is from Gibraltar! What is is with people unable to read Posts to the UK only!

I always get that as well, I hope no one from outside the UK bids on my Rebel Yell because I just want it sold but cant be arsed with any overseas postage hassles.

I wouldnt accept the payment, and if he gives you negative feedback I think you could just reply to it saying you stated the item was for uk postage only yet he ignored that, or something.

There is a way to get their account suspended I believe.

With the new rules I dont think the seller can even leave replies with their feedback let alone give negative feedback back.

Ok That helps but Looking at one of the listings I didnt actually state in the item description I only post to the uk but in the postage part It says united kingdom

Can you just click on 'unwelcome and malicious buying' and fill in that form there, stating that you told the buyer that you would not post to foreign

Gibraltar is a part of the UK. :P

I've been keeping a close eye on the new ebay systems and I have to say it's very bad news for sellers indeed right now.

A few questions though.

Did you set your selling conditions as UK only? I don't mean in the listing itself. I mean your user preferences?

Ebay is apparently in the process of moving away from the private seller/standard auctions format and changing to business user/BIN listings. All of the recent system changes seem to only benefit the this format.

I've stopped using ebay to sell as a result of this.

Private sellers currently have zero protection and seem to be getting suspended in great numbers.

I usually list my stuff as UK only but I say in the narrative that I may post elsewhere, but to contact me first. I usually end up with enquiries from people in mainland Europe, but if they look a bit dodgy I just say I can't ship to them. I've ended up selling things to people in France, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Finland, all over the place - shipping items to Europe is really no more complex than shipping to the UK.

But I've never had your situation of someone in Europe buying without contacting me first. It must be worth contacting eBay if the guy's actually threatening you with negative feedback.

It is all getting a bit worrying. I have several guitars I want to sell in the next few weeks - fingers crossed nothing will go wrong.

I've started selling DVDs and things on Amazon Marketplace, mainly because it's much easier than listing them on eBay. Amazon take a big cut though, I end up with less than I would selling on eBay - mainly because Amazon set the postage charge, so you can't bump it up a bit to cover your overheads.

Dumb question here - what is the problem in just posting the item to Gib? You have to go to the Post Office anyway. Does the guy have good feedback? Provided he pays the shipping fees you should be OK.

Just make him add extra on for the postage and if theres any difference refund him or dont :P your choice.

alternatively you can give it as a second chance offer to the second highest bidder

If you regularly sell stuff by post, it's worth investing in a postal scale or even an electronic kitchen scale. Then you can figure out the correct postage and even print and pay for postage labels from the Royal Mail website.

I don't normally have much praise for Royal Mail but their online postage system is great! :D

bit of a different rant here, but ebay seems to have changed how the "search" works in the past few days, and all it has seemed to accomplish (from what i can see anyway) is that it now takes me about 4 times as long, and 4 times as much clicking and typing, to find what i want...
