NGD for me!!!
« on: June 23, 2008, 04:51:46 PM »
My Schecter 007 elite finally arrived today!

Some Pics:

It Goes very well with my 006 elite!

Its an '06 model and its specs are as follows:

CONSTRUCTION/SCALE: Set-Neck w/ Ultra Access / 25.5”
BODY:                       Mahogany w/ Figured Maple
NECK/FINGERBOARD:     3-pc. Mahogany/Rosewood
FRETS:                          24 Jumbo
INLAYS:               12th fret Diamond
PICKUPS:             Duncan Designed HB-102/SC-102
ELECTRONICS:         Vol/Tone (tap)/ 3-way
BRIDGE:             TonePros TOM w/ thru-body
BINDING:             Creme (neck, headstock)
TUNERS:             Grover

I've been after one of these for ages (ever since I sold my blackjack 007) and When I saw it on ebay I had to get it.

It plays Brilliantly, the neck carve is almost Identical to my Ltd sc-607 (not too thin slightly flattened U shape), which is awesome because I thought it would be like the carve on the blackjack 007 which was a bit chunkier.

The single coil Sounds really nice clean and when I play leads (badly) Its got a really nice fluid smooth character to it. The bridge humbucker is a different story... its your typical duncan designed pickup, muddy and undefined. So I think a Painkiller will be going in there when I have the cash.

The Finish is also great with a really nice quilt, in the pictures they look terrible because my camera doesn't like quilt tops (I think its to do with the image stabilisation) But trust me its really nice.

Now Ive just got to get a Baritone PRS style Singlecut 7 made and my collection is pretty much complete.   (that and a Tremonti trem)

Looks nice.  8)

My C7 Hellraiser weighs an absolute ****ing ton. What's that one like?

I also sanded & oiled the neck on mine (note to self: needs re-doing) because I've grown to hate gloss necks... Resale value = 0 now but it plays so much better!!

Used to have an 006 Blackjack. Loved the sound but didn't play it enough.
A-Pig 7s, Miracle Man & Mule, Cold Sweats... Expensive kit and no talent posse.

Its not too bad, It does weigh a bit but it's nicely balanced. I think the active pickups etc make it feel heavier. I love Gloss necks tho, dont know why, just do.

Don't you find they get sticky really quickly? I'm getting the neck on my les paul refinished to satin soon...

Cheers  8)

My hands dont really sweat so the neck doesnt really get sticky, which is probably why I like them.

0000 steel wool... ;) That stuff's good too. I did the maple neck of a Jackson with that and it worked well.

As for the Schecter, it had a really thick lacquer finish. I assaulted mine with a medium then fine sandpaper, coated with Danish oil, & repeat process a few times. Give the thing a final rub down with the steel wool. Complete botch job but works for me!

...Yeah I'm worried about the botch job! Also, some of the finish is peeling on the neck so i have to get it properly fixed...
