So, after many months of work, my new Roter sevenstring is finaly done.
Before I start, I owe a lots of congratulations to the Roter guys, Sebastian and Adam, especially Sebastian, who was with me all this time, and gave the best support the one could possibly give.
Here's how it was.
I was on the search for the strings for my Ibanez 1527, cos I just couldn't find any that would fit me here in Croatia. So I finally ran onto Apophis (Sebastian) on sevenstring.org, who explained me all about the string tension and stuff, and told me that he uses his some custom made strings for his custom guitars. I noticed he is a guitar maker, so I got interested, dough I know I have no money to afford for a custom.
Howerver, it turned out that the price is ONLY 1000$ + pickups and tremolo. I was like wow. The reason? The only impression I got of them is that they really don't do it cos of money, and their final intention is to make guitars, and not to become rich. Other luthiers would most probably suck as much money as they could. These guys, however, even lowered their price, when they found out I'd have problems with custom fees.
Sebastian was more than helpful. He even helped me to find a buyer for my Ibanez, just so I could get that custom. Finally I got rid of this Ibanez, so the work began.
Until now HUNDREDS of PMs and emails were exchanged. On the guitar even the tiniest details were changed. They even refinished it a couple of times, just because I wasn't 100% satisfied with some tiny totally unnecessary details (like, this part is too pointy, and this cut off is not the way I want it, and so on). Ok, maybe the reason is partly because of this "famous" camera of theirs, so I couldn't see everything at first, but still, I doubt anyone would really care for such tiny details.
Sometimes I felt like I'm really asking too much, but, being a perfectionist, I NEEDED a guitar that I will LOVE, not just like, but LOVE. Sebastian would say everytime that it's ok, and do what I asked him.
Like I said, they knew how much trouble I'll have with customs, since Croatia isn't a part of EU yet. So, they were more than helpful with this as well. Not only that they did their best that I get this guitar for the lowest price possible, but also Sebastian offered to redesign the whole WEBSITE, so if somebody from customs were to check, they would see this guitar cost some USD 450 hehehehe. That way the masterplan would be complete, and they wouldn't charge me too much Otherwise, the customs would be over 50 percent!!!
