Hard Rock Calling Hyde Park
« on: June 30, 2008, 11:31:23 AM »
I went on Sunday, it was ok but a bit lame, not what I'm used to.
I enjoyed THE MICKI FREE ELECTRIC BLUES EXPERIENCE best. They did a brilliant cover of Voodoo Chile, his guitar tone and playing was bang on.

The rest of the day was alright. The Police headlined, they're very good at what they do. I've never really been a fan but they did play really well.

I thought The Stranglers didn't show up but i got so pissed up i didn't realise they were on another stage. I didn't even know there were two!!

Not to be confused with Mark/Marcie Free who used to be in King Kobra, Signal and Unruly Child (which was what I thought for a moment when I saw Johnny's post)!

Not Hard Rock it's true, but they're definitely a power trio of sorts.  I'm not a fan, but I do admire their songwriting and musicianship.  And they're infinitely better than Sting's poncey solo stuff.

Some of the guitar and bass playing with some of Stuart Copelands complex drumming was very impressive and the crowd were cheering them for it.
A lot more impressive than Jay Z, Amy Winehouse or James Blunt at Glastonbury.
